NEW LONDON-SPICER SCHOOL DIST. 345

Inspire Every Student, Every Day

Winter Weather Can't Keep Us Down!

To honor our school board members past and present during School Board Recognition Month, I want to say thank you. Currently, our school board members are Board Chair, Lucinda Dahlberg, Vice Chair, Mark Peterson, Board Clerk, Susan Lange, Treasurer, Jeff Vetsch, Darryl Nelson, Laura Nelson, and Del Brouwer.

My career started as an English teacher, and being in education my entire career, it took me a few years to understand all the commitments of a board member. Needless to say, being a board member is more than two meetings a month. Our board members spend many hours serving on a variety of additional committees including but not limited to; Buildings and Grounds, Labor and Transportation, Finance, Executive, Advisory, High School League, Policy committee and many more! A detailed rundown of our school board’s involvement in school and local committees is located on our website (www.nls.k12.mn.us/schoolboard).

Again, thank you to our past and present board members who have put in countless hours looking out for our future.

Jamie Boelter, NLS Superintendent

Survey On Local Walking Trails Usage- (5 minute or less)

Mid-Minnesota Development Commission (MMDC) is currently working with Kandiyohi County, to lead the update of the Kandiyohi County Bike and Pedestrian Trail System Plan. A planning task force has been assembled and a public input survey developed to discover how people access/use the current trail system and also how they would like to see the trails develop over the coming years.

One demographic that can be difficult to reach via our own networks is the youth population, especially in the 14 to 19 year age range. This could be a tremendous opportunity for Kandiyohi County youth to influence County development by taking part in the public decision-making process. Please also be sure to complete this survey yourself, and to share it with your personal networks, especially the walkers, runners, and bicyclists in your respective circles!
