What's a Letter of Compliance?
Columbia and the Village of Wilde Lake are covenant-protected communities. A letter of compliance documents whether a property is fully compliant with the Wilde Lake Village Covenants [PDF], which is a legally binding document.
This is important because violations of the Covenants "run with the property," meaning that issues which are not remedied before transfer become the responsibility of the new owner.
Only the current owner of a property may request a letter of compliance, but you may do so at any time -- whether your property is transferring hands or not. There is no cost for the inspection, and no one needs to be present, as it is purely exterior.
To request an inspection, complete the Request for Letter of Compliance form [fillable PDF] https://www.wildelake.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Compliance-Inspection-Request.pdf and submit it to covenants@wildelake.org. Requests may also be mailed or hand-delivered to Slayton House (10400 Cross Fox Lane).
Questions? Contact Lexi Levy Milani, covenant advisor for the Village of Wilde Lake, at covenants@wildelake.org or 410-730-3987.
