Essential news for the UCSF community

UCSF continues to monitor the effect of wildfires on air quality on campus and in our communities, which led to unhealthy levels last week. Yet science is only beginning to understand how wildfire smoke affects our health, but its secret may lie in the size of the particles it emits.


In 2019, UCSF scientists found a link between the gut microbiome and childhood risk of asthma. They’re now charting a new course for treating the disease by focusing on those microbes.


The assistant professor of child and adolescent psychiatry lives with a history of depression and anxiety, and is now focused on using that trauma to alleviate challenges for others.


BEST – the UCSF Benioff Oakland Braddock Emotional Support Team – will use a $6.6 million gift to expand to 28 medical clinics, allowing more young patients and their families to receive mental and behavioral care.


The Chancellor’s Cabinet has set a goal to support action planning to improve staff engagement
across UCSF and UCSF Health.

Modernization of 3rd Street Garage Elevator Delayed: Work on modernizing Elevator 2 in the 3rd Street Garage at UCSF Mission Bay has been unexpectedly delayed. While upgrades were originally scheduled to be completed in August, the elevator is now expected to be returned to service in October. Follow the progress »
