Ask Culver City Council to Fund Our Schools!

On August 11, Culver City Council will be discussing CCUSD's request for funding (Item A-2 on the agenda, open session begins as early as 7pm). This financial support would help retain Culver City’s destination school district distinction. Please let the city council know you support our schools:

  • Two ways to speak in support of Item A-2:
  1. Attend the meeting and request to speak in person or
  2. Request to make a virtual comment and attend remotely
  • Two ways to submit support on A-2 via digital comment ahead of the meeting:
  1. Email the council by 1pm Monday at city.council@culvercity.org or
  2. Submit an e-comment

Since 2024, CCUSD has eliminated 67 positions, combined with cuts in in materials, contracts, and other expenses, we have reduced our expenditures by over $10M. Even with this tremendous two year course correction, the district must painfully reduce another $4M+ this year in order to remain in good standing. Options for large revenue solutions, like a new parcel tax, would only begin to provide relief three or more years from now. Salary and benefits comprise about 90% of our operating budget and the next round of cuts will have a substantial impact on our scholars as essential positions and popular programs will be considered. It is no longer a matter of careful planning and collapsing responsibilities; more cuts mean students will lose access to the very programs that make our schools desirable. We need immediate help from our city partners in order to retain the breadth and quality of our services to ensure Culver City remains a destination school district. Please support this urgent request so we may work together to fulfill Culver City's promise in providing a high quality education.
