very few states have acknowledged the challenge of federal preemption which says that state laws cannot conflict with federal law.
The formal FDA-USDA agreement to share jurisdiction over
cell-cultured meat
, coupled with this wave of state-led initiatives and increasingly popular and accessible alternative foods, has cast the shadow of federal preemption over states with strong agriculture industries. These developments raise two main questions:
