You are Invited to the Inaugural Sports and Exercise Cardiology Symposium!
There are approximately 5 million active athletes across high school, collegiate, professional and master's levels in the United States. Since the athletic population is continuing to expand in all major demographic groups, a larger contingent of practice-ready clinicians who understand the contemporary care and practice management strategies for athletes and those who are highly active is needed.
The Sports Cardiology symposium intends to provide a platform to health providers who cardiovascular care to athletes, including cardiologists and sports medicine as well as advanced practice providers (NPs, CNS and PAs) to discuss can debate contemporary topics in Sports Cardiology.
The California Chapter of the American College of Cardiology – in partnership with Stanford University - will deliver a 3 hour symposium on guideline—driven cardiovascular care for the athlete and highly active individuals. This will include two lectures and 3 case presentation moderated by a panel of experts and 2 case led discussion by experts in the field of Sports Cardiology.
Objectives include:
1. Identify appropriate populations for pre-participation screening
2. Perform appropriate cardiac risk assessment, including the use of diagnostic studies in athletes and those who are active.
3. Debate the current and continuing controversies in sports cardiology, including pre-participation screening, management of arrhythmia differentiating athletes' heart from cardiomyopathy and returning to sport after cardiovascular surgery/intervention.
Registration is free for this inaugural event! Please join us February 28th 2020 at the New Stanford Hospital.
