When it Matters Most!
By now we are all familiar with what commissioning is – the systematic review and testing of building systems to ensure they are working as intended when the building is turned over to the Owner. Best practice commissioning of any new buildings or major renovation projects starts at the earliest design phases and is not completed until after the building is occupied, sometimes including quarterly reviews every 12-24 months after occupancy.

But even after 10-20 years of commissioning being considered “mainstream” in the building construction industry, we find that many people still associate commissioning mainly with HVAC systems. Commissioning of all major building systems is not only an industry best practice, but also recommended by commissioning guidelines and standards such as ACG, ASHE, NEBS, and ASHRAE. Additionally, many building codes are also requiring commissioning of building systems beyond HVAC, such as emergency power systems, life safety systems, building envelope, lighting, and plumbing systems.
