Will Your Project Be #100?
July of this year will mark seven years since my husband, Sean, and I purchased Modern Memoirs from founder, Kitty Axelson-Berry. Seven is my “lucky number,” and as we approach that anniversary, I am looking back at the scores of projects we’ve worked on since 2019, realizing that the total will soon reach 100. Given that small publishers like us might typically go to print with five to ten titles annually, we are tremendously proud of the pace our dedicated team has managed over the past seven years.
The projects we’ve worked on range from brief pre-press consultations, to multi-year commissioned books involving interviews, research, original writing, and custom design, and everything in between. Current work includes: four commissioned books (a company history, a memoir, a family history, and a genealogy); a celebration book; and more than a half-dozen “assisted” books that started with clients’ original manuscripts.
Some of these current projects will head to the printer in the next few months, and I’ve begun wondering which of our potential new projects will end up being #100 in the company’s history since Sean and I took the helm. As I write this piece, there are several possibilities in negotiation, each one fascinating in its own right.
And, who knows? Maybe I’ll luck out and someone reading this piece will take the plunge and decide theirs will be project #100, or will gift a consultation and estimate to a writer they want to support. Reach out today!
