South Brunswick Senior Center
Office on Aging
(Closed until further notice.. but, leave a voicemail and we will call you back!)
Dear Senior Center Members,

There is not one person that I've spoken to who doesn't have the same fears, concerns, worries and anxiety that I feel. Collectively, we are a group in South Brunswick that share the same emotions that our friends and neighbors feel in the next town over, the next latitude line over and everywhere on the globe.

Beyond all socioeconomic and all age groups, we are having to adjust to and make life changes. In positive ways we are making changes by embracing technology, getting in touch with our creativity like writing poetry or doodles to cooking new recipes to crafting, and so much more. Some of us are making changes but having a harder time finding meaningful and fun activities to fill our day.

The Senior Center's online community will not fill the void of what we are grieving or take away our fears but, perhaps it can provide some connection to others that will help with getting through these difficult days.

Our staff has been working diligently behind the scenes brainstorming and creating a virtual community through our Facebook group. To start our wonderful Senior Center volunteers have offered to run their classes through Facebook Live. The schedule is below. All staff are calling people individually and if we missed you please call us to check in. Though we are not physically in the senior center we are still accessing our voicemails and we look forward to hearing from you.

We have no crystal ball but we can be assured that this situation will eventually improve, our lives will get back to some level of 'normal' and we will all be acutely aware of how grateful we are of things we always took for granted.

I wish everyone an easy journey and most certainly, good health to all. Please abide by staying home as much as possible and keeping your circle of loved ones small.

Staff are all available to talk and can provide info on resources, ideas of structuring your day or offering kind, encouraging words.

To better days!
Much love,
Caryl x 7682
I would love to hear from you too!

Snopes One of my favorite websites- Snopes, formerly known as the Urban Legends Reference Pages, is a fact-checking website. It has been described as a "well-regarded reference for sorting out myths and rumors" on the Internet. It has also been seen as a source for validating and debunking urban legends and similar stories in American popular culture. Very relevant in the wake of COVID19.

The MET Metropolitan Museum of Art This is their virtual tour available to see through 360* videos. Almost like being there.

A little humor- Thank you Toby!
Just be careful because people are going crazy from being in lock down! Actually I've just been talking about this with the microwave and toaster and we all agreed that things are getting bad. I didn't mention anything to the washing machine as she puts a different spin on everything. Certainly not to the fridge as he is acting cold and distant. In the end the iron straightened me out as she said everything will be fine, no situation is too pressing. The vacuum was very unsympathetic... told me to just suck it up, but the fan was more optimistic and hoped it would all soon blow over! The toilet looked a bit flushed when I asked its opinion and didn’t say anything but the door knob told me to get a grip. 😬  The front door said I was unhinged and so the curtains told me to ........yes, you guessed it  😝 .....pull myself together
