To all in our Tuesday's Children community,

In this extraordinary year, marking 20 Years of Service to our community, Tuesday's Children is proud to honor and celebrate the children with whom we've had the privilege to grow up. We reflect on how, in the past two decades, our mission has grown to provide services to more than 42,000 individuals, including America's Gold Star families.

While we are looking back on the past 20 years, we are most excited to look forward to a full calendar of special events. We hope everyone in our community will have the opportunity to get involved – from our Virtual Gala (more details coming soon!) to our Rise Up and Remember: Memorial Day 5K and the simple act of lighting a light in memory of a loved one.

Our families remain at the core of everything we do and this year we look forward to continuing our journey together.

With much gratitude for your continued support,

Terry
Upcoming Programs
While the return of in-person programming is on the horizon, Tuesday's Children is proud to continue with virtual offerings until that time comes. Please be on the lookout for the return of our graduation photo project, where we acknowledge the successes of Tuesday's Children family members who are moving forward into exciting new stages of their lives. For a reminder on what this looked like last year, please CLICK HERE to watch the video in full. If a member of your family is graduating from high school or college this year, please send a photo and the graduate's name to Beth@tuesdayschildren.org. Submission deadline is May 17th.

Be sure to stay tuned to your emails, our social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/LinkedIn) and our website calendar for more details on upcoming programs. Whether we wave through the screen or (hopefully!) share a row at the ballpark, we look forward to your continued participation in our programs and everything Tuesday's Children has to offer.

4th Lessons in Recovery and Resilience Forum

Tuesday's Children family members are invited to join us for a FREE virtual forum, where we will discuss best practices and lessons learned from 20 years of dedicated service to families impacted by Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, mass-scale tragedies and military loss, as well as new challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. This impactful experience will feature keynote speakers, expert panels and stories of resilience from survivors of traumatic loss. Through events like these we hope to create opportunities for our families to build common bonds and connect with peers.

Mentoring Match Spotlight: Kaida and Ariel
Kaida, who is 12 years old, prioritizes helping her mom, Kim, take care of family before her own needs. Kim was eager to find Kaida a mentor to help her just be a kid and enjoy her passions. From Taekwondo to anime and acting, there is a lot that brings Kaida joy! She was recently paired up with Ariel, who made it her mission to share experiences with Kaida and meet her on the set of one of her movie shoots.

Ariel, a Marine Corps veteran who lives in Virginia, quickly bonded with Kaida over their shared love of the anime series My Hero Academia and the K-pop music group, BTS. While they have some differing opinions, as Ariel prefers fantasy books and Kaida loves history, they are both eager to learn about each other's interests and grow closer as time goes by.

As if the connection wasn't already obvious, Kim told Ariel at their first meeting, "I want to be your friend too!" The duo plans to connect regularly over FaceTime and Ariel recently drove up to Virginia to meet Kaida on a movie set in New Jersey!

Recent Programs and Family Engagement Events
We hit the ground running in 2021, offering a dozen virtual programs from January through March, and have many more planned in the coming months. Whether you needed career advice, a boost in self-confidence or a creative way to stay entertained indoors, we had something to offer.

Thanks to our generous supporters at LinkedIn and State Farm, as well as Tuesday's Children community members Fred Strobel and Jonathan Egan, we were able to host virtual career workshops. Aspiring young professionals and those looking for a career change tuned in for advice on how to stand out in a sea of applicants and land the job of your dreams.

For those in need of self-care, we offered another virtual session of Creative Insight. This eight-week program not only inspired participants and challenged them internally, but provided a safe space to connect with peers and build bonds.

Speaking of building bonds, we hosted our winter session of Project COMMON BOND, where attendees from five countries participated in brainstorming sessions about creating peace in the world we live in. CLICK HERE for more information on the summer session!
While a return to normalcy is on the horizon, it's still a strange world right now and sometimes all you need is a break from it. Tuesday's Children community members of all ages enjoyed an underwater adventure courtesy of Mystic Aquarium. We met with penguins, whales and sea turtles all from our living rooms!

As this virtual world presses on, so will Tuesday's Children as we work hard to provide a well-rounded variety of programs to the families we serve.

Stay tuned to our website calendar and socials (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/LinkedIn) for updates on upcoming programs.
