As of July 27th businesses were allowed to be partially open again, with operations running from 12PM to 4PM. This is good news for Hope because our thrift stores are responsible for 30% of our local income, and they have been closed since mid-March!
Schools are still closed and are expected to be open again in September, but our educators and teachers at Hope have been working hard to keep our students studying from home on a daily basis.
Pray for Gabriel, Pedro, Andrey, Davy and Derik. These five students arrived between June and July. Pray for God’s healing, transformation and peace in their hearts as they adapt to their new lives at the City of Youth.
Pray for our virtual Birthday parties. We’re thankful to have the opportunity to celebrate our kids’ birthdays during the pandemic, but pray that this is also a way for God to speak to each one of these kids as we celebrate with them and give them their presents and Birthday certificates with words of affirmation. We can’t explain how happy and loved they feel when they talk to people from another country, even if it’s just via Zoom.
Keep praying for Val, who has helped run our thrift stores for over 15 years. She has been working with us for over 15 years and is a great worker. This year she was diagnosed with spinal cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Keep praying for our house parents. Imagine being confined at home 24/7 with twelve rambunctious kids! These men and women of God have been true warriors during this pandemic, home-schooling the children and even taking care of the cooking and cleaning without outside help. Thanks to their energy and creativity, they also organize soccer tournaments, kite flying competitions, and other outdoor activities to keep the children busy and focused on healthy activities.
"Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving."
PS: We're having a prayer meeting on Zoom this Friday, July 31 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET. We'd love for you to join us. Email email@example.com the meeting information.
