RE:.................William Boffi Named V.P. of Enrollment Management
DATE:............24 February 2022

Following a nationwide search, I am pleased to announce that William L. Boffi has been appointed the University’s next Vice President of Enrollment Management. Mr. Boffi, who currently serves as Vice President for Enrollment at Nichols College will report to me, serve on the Cabinet, and oversee the Enrollment Management Division and the Department of Athletics. Mr. Boffi assumes his new position in April.

As the University continues to implement its ambitious strategic plan, Ever Ancient, Ever New, I am pleased to welcome Mr. Boffi and his depth of experience in Enrollment Management and Athletics to the Assumption community. Mr. Boffi recognizes the challenges facing the higher education industry, particularly in New England, and will develop and implement an innovative recruitment strategy that will maintain Assumption’s position of strength as it relates to recruiting new students to our undergraduate and graduate programs. With a deep understanding of the value of our Catholic identity and mission formed by his years of education in Catholic schools, Mr. Boffi possesses the necessary experience and vision to lead the University’s Enrollment Management Division.

During the interview process, Mr. Boffi shared his vision and commitment to deliver authentic and meaningful content to prospective students and their families in the unsettled higher education marketplace. Here, he will develop a strategic enrollment plan, design a financial aid model that equitably optimizes net revenue, and maximize the impact of Athletics on recruitment, retention, and brand strength. With a commitment to collaboration, Mr. Boffi will engage the entire Assumption community in pursuit of sustained enrollment success.

For the past 11 years, Mr. Boffi has served in several successive leadership roles at Nichols including Associate Vice President for Enrollment; Dean of Student Recruitment and Retention; and Associate Dean for Student Success and Retention. Among his many accomplishments at Nichols, he increased fall 2021 new student enrollment; exceeded fall 2021 and 2020 budgeted undergraduate enrollment; increased graduate enrollment; achieved the highest four and six-year graduation rates on record for Nichols; and achieved the highest levels of enrollment in the history of Nichols College. As Chair of the Admissions Advisory Committee, he proposed new academic programs and focused upon early applications and high school partnerships to transform the prospective student pool.

Prior to Nichols, Mr. Boffi served at Pine Manor College for seven years as Dean for Student Recruitment and Retention; Dean for Student Retention; Assistant/Associate Dean of Student Life; and Director of Athletics/Head Women’s Basketball Coach. There, he exceeded Pine Manor’s five-year average application rate by 25 percent and restructured five offices into the Enrollment and Financial Services team with a goal to improve service, reduce costs, and exceed enrollment goals. During his service at Pine Manor, he led the Athletics program to its most successful seasons and coached the Women’s Basketball team to the NCAA top 25 in wins improvement.

Mr. Boffi holds an M.B.A. with a specialization in International Sports Management from the University of Rhode Island and a B.A. in Mathematics with a Certificate in Business Studies from Providence College.

I would like to thank members of the University community for engaging in the search process as well as the search committee: Greg Weiner, Ph.D., Chair; Richard Burke, Trustee; Christine Marcks, Trustee; Monica Blondin, Director of Financial Aid; Mary Bresnahan, Assistant V.P. for Student Success; Esteban Loustaunau, Ph.D., Professor of Spanish; Christine Lowthert, Ed.D., Director of Athletics; Caitlin Stover, Ph.D., Dean of the Froelich School of Nursing; and Karen Stoyanoff, Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions.
