Burgum delivers State of the State Address

Bismarck Tribune - Gov. Doug Burgum highlighted familiar themes in his State of the State address on Thursday to North Dakota lawmakers - hammering on his budget proposals, the state's economy and initiatives of his administration. "Today, the State of the State is that we stand at the cusp of a new era in North Dakota's history," the governor told a joint session of the Legislature. "And by harnessing the courage to dare greatly, we will cultivate a prosperous future for generations to come.

Operation Prairie Dog could benefit Williston
Sen. Brad Bekkedahl is seeking support for Operation Prairie Dog at the 2019 Legislative Session. 
KUMV-TV - Williston will be getting more funding if North Dakota's Operation Prairie Dog legislation is passed.  In 2013, before hub city legislation was passed the first time, Williston was getting $1.5 million a year in oil tax money. Since then, Williston averages $26.5 million a year. If this bill passes, it would put Williston closer to $30 million a year in funding. The new bill would eradicate the clause that terminates hub city funding every two years, guaranteeing that money to the city.  Read More
Watford City, Williston to vote on School Bond Referendums Jan. 8
Roundup - McKenzie  County voters will decide whether to approve or deny two requests designed to fund upcoming anticipated needs of the school district.  Question one asks residents to approve a general obligation bond in an amount up to 35 million dollars, for the purpose of providing funds necessary to construct a new elementary school. Oil Patch leads 3Q Taxable Sales and Purchases

McKenzie County Farmer - While North Dakota's economy saw an 18 percent increase in taxable sales and purchases in the third quarter of 2018, the state's booming oil patch region including McKenzie County, continued to drive much of the increase. McKenzie County and Watford City, which are at the very heart of the Bakken, saw taxable sales and purchases increase by 51.32 and 48.97 percent, respectively, in the third quarter of 2018 compared to the same three-month period in 2017.  For the full story, subscribe to the McKenzie County Farmer

Crosby Day Care featured in EDND Booklet
Crosby Kids Daycare is among the success stories in the EDND Booklet.
Crosby Journal - Crosby Kids Daycare is among the projects touted in a booklet titled "Economic Development Success in North Dakota." The booklet, released at year end by the Economic Development Association of North Dakota, highlights the role of local developers around the region in providing information, marketing communities, fostering entrepreneurship and facilitating business startups. The write-up recognizes the Divide County Jobs Development Authority's role in working for several years toward the development of a new daycare in Crosby, finally culminating in the project that opened late in 2017.
GNDC CEO Roundtable Jan. 16 in Dickinson

Leadership Williston Student launches Stop the Bleed Campaign

News Release - The  Williston Fire Department 's Emily Hughes, has launched her 2018-19 Leadership Williston project. The Stop the Bleed Campaign seeks to save lives by distributing supplies to schools.   You can help by donating a special Stop the Bleed kit ($25, $50, or $100) designed for these types of emergencies through Emily's charity campaign (runs until Thursday, February 14).
