The City of Williston will host two public meetings next week; on June 12 Roger Brooks will discuss some exciting ideas for downtown development and on June 13 there will be a meeting to discuss plans to allow mobile food vendors in town. More details are located in the stories below.

Williston Public Works celebrates Groundbreaking on New Facility
The new public works facility will be 96,000 square feet. It will be located east of the current site. Williston Economic Development
Williston Herald - "The Best City In North Dakota." That's how Mayor Howard Klug described Williston on Thursday afternoon at the groundbreaking of the new Public Works facility, located east of the current building. The project has been in the works for several years, and Klug touted the work of the city's planners, engineers and leaders for bringing it to fruition. "This project here is going to serve Williston for the next 40 or 50 years." Klug said. "It's a dream of the people that have worked so hard over the last six years." Read More
City of Williston helps Senior Center remain Open with $50,000 Loan

Williston Herald - The Williston City Commission voted in a special meeting on Wednesday, June 6, to provide a loan to the financially struggling Williston Senior Center to prevent it from closing. Citing a change in management and inability to secure grant funding as reason for financial difficulty, Mayor Howard Klug requested that a line of credit be extended by the city to keep it operational. Klug requested that a $50,000 "Band-Aid" be granted to the senior center, but with the caveat that all money will be paid back. Read More
Miss America returns to Williston; Teen Finals June 8, Miss North Dakota Finals June 9

KUMV-TV - Young ladies are taking center stage in hopes of becoming the next Miss North Dakota this week in Williston. "It's just a really great way to bring people into town and to let these girls have this opportunity to shine and do what makes them feel confident," said Stephanie Johnson, Miss North Dakota's Outstanding Teen director. The Friday night teen finals and Saturday night finals will be held at the Bakken Elementary Auditorium at 7 p.m.  Read More
Roger Brooks Presentation rescheduled to June 12

News Release/Williston Economic Development - A keynote speaker  on travel, tourism, downtowns, community branding and destination marketing will speak in Williston on Tuesday, June 12. The free public meeting featuring Roger Brooks will be  held from 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the Williams County Administration Building in the Commission Room (lower level). Public invited to Mobile Food Truck Meeting June 13
The public is invited to a meeting on June 13 at 6 p.m. in the Commission Room at City Hall to discuss a new ordinance for mobile food trucks.
News Release/City of Williston - The City of Williston is announcing a public comment period regarding a new ordinance to allow mobile food trucks within the city. The  City of Williston has heard requests for mobile food trucks and after having thoroughly researched the concept will be presenting proposed regulations. Connecting Communities BBQ June 20 in Alexander
News Release - The first Connecting Communities BBQ of the summer will be held June 20 in Alexander. The free BBQ is free and open to the public. It will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at City Park. The event allows Williston to thank Alexander residents for shopping, dining, utilizing health care facilities, attending college and simply visiting Williston.
TrainND Northwest names New Director
Pam Rasmussen has been named the Regional Director for Technical Programs and Training at TrainND starting July 1.
KEYZ Radio - TrainND has a new director as the job retention program with WSC moves into some new territory; developing a fast track curriculum for natural gas work, including pipeline and refining skills. Pam Rassmussen understand what the industry needs, and when. "Oil and gas needs education to react quickly, so one of our main areas of focus will be how we deliver short term training and how we find the niche areas in that training that are definately meeting focused needs in oil and gas," says Rasmussen. WSC Student named to ND Board of Higher Education
News Release - Gov. Doug Burgum today appointed Devils Lake attorney Daniel Traynor, New Rockford-Sheyenne Superintendent Jill Louters and Williston State College student Ashley Thornton to the North Dakota Board of Higher Education.
