Williston Business Owners confirm Economy is Picking Up
Williston Economic Development executive director Shawn Wenko told KXNews, "There's been a lot of entrepreneurial activity coming through this office, a lot of small business startups." - Oil and gas production is near record levels and the economy is showing impressive strength as well.  Is this the dawn of a new oil boom in North Dakota? Jim Olson set out to find the answer in Williston.  "Things have definitely picked up for us," said John Lisle of S&B Drilling. "In 2015 we had three employees. In 2016 we had 12. And now we're up to 20 employees." It's the same story for Katie Kringen. "We turn two in the fall and we have 14 therapists here," said Kringen. That's up from 2016 when she started her pediatric therapy office as the only employee. 68 Business registered for Williston Job Fair Sept. 12; More Space Available

Williston Economic Development - Job seekers are invited to Williston's annual fall job fair on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The Multi Employer Job Fair will be open from 3-7 p.m. at the Raymond Family Community Center. So far nearly 70 employers have registered for the job fair; but more room is available. Job Service North Dakota says the event provides a great opportunity for companies to meet and interview potential employees. "As of today we have 68 registered employers. We are expecting about 600 job seekers," said Fran Zerr, Job Service North Dakota. Read More
Williston Mayor maintains New Airport will open October 2019
Williston Mayor Howard Klug says XWA construction remains on track for the planned Oct. 2019 opening. - The new, quarter-billion dollar Willilston Basin International Airport is going to be open by the target date of October 10 of 2019. "It's difficult but we've got a good team and they're making good decisions and we've got good contractors that are working hard out there and we're not going to fail, we're going to get this project done," said Klug. The $230M to $250M project is being paid by federal (50%), state (25%), and local governments (25%). Read More

Community Based Outpatient Clinic . The new clinic is located at 1542 16th St. W., Suite 300. The spacious new facility is approximately 7500 square feet, about twice the size of its previous space. The facility has a large waiting room, four exam rooms, four telehealth exam rooms and much more. Read More

Williston Economic Development - A new mens only salon is now open in Williston. Crude Cuts celebrated its grand opening on Aug. 17. The spacious salon is open 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sundays from Noon until 7 p.m. The stylists will provide cuts, beard trims, shaves and much more! New School Supply Store opens in Williston
KUMV-TV -  If you were procrastinating and still need to buy school supplies, you're in luck. There's a new school supply store in Williston. BrainStorm opened on Aug. 13, and is a locally-owned supply store for not only students, but teachers as well. Owner Kim Pederson believes teachers now have the opportunity to go in and quickly buy what they are looking for, instead of searching online and having to wait for the supplies to arrive. Read More
New Town Golf Course gets Makeover
The North Dakota Department of Transportation is helping with improvements at the Edgewater Country Club in New Town in exchange for allowing a truck bypass to go through the course.
Golf Course Architecture - Kevin Norby is working on the nine-hole public course at Edgewater Country Club in New Town, North Dakota following the State's decision to build a road through the middle of the course for a new truck bypass. As a result of the decision, the State is building three new holes, a new driving range, new clubhouse and new maintenance facility. Crosby Journal - Plans for a new Crosby public swimming pool moved forward last week, based on a meeting with an Ontario construction company bidding to rebuild it. Bernie Gall, president of Acapulco Pools, stopped in Crosby on Wednesday last week to confer with City Auditor Kristi Imhoff and Park Board President Traci Lund about the plan. "Weather is always a concern, and the question is when you start," Gall said. "If you start in November, you won't be open. You need to start in September." Six New Natural Gas Plants to open in 2018-19

NPR -  More natural gas processing plants are coming on-line in the Bakken. State pipeline authority director Justin Kringstad said two are being completed this year, and four others are scheduled next year. The two plants in 2018 are scheduled to come on-line in the September-October time frame," Kringstad said. "They will add 400 million cubic feet (mcf) of gas processing." Kringstad said the total investment in those two facilities is $300 million. "The additional four plants (in 2019) will bring that total to 965 mcf for all six plants," Kringstad said. In the last five years, North Dakota's oil and gas extraction industry has grown by over 150%. Over the same period, North Dakota's total GDP shot up 24.1%, the strongest economic growth of any state and more than double the GDP growth of 10.5% nationwide. Read More
