The operations manager at Williston Public Works has been named the 2017 North Dakota Department of Health Operator of the Year. Kenny Bergstrom received the award at the 89th annual North Dakota Pollution Control Conference in Fargo. The NDDoH presents the Operator of the Year awards to the facilities with outstanding water and wastewater facility management. Williston women's apparel business has teamed up with its customers to give new and slightly used clothing to the Family Crisis Shelter. Style UNcorked Boutique, located at 125 Main Street Suite C in Downtown Williston; held a Denim Drive in late August to raise awareness and jeans for the shelter. The store rewarded customers who donated their lightly used jeans with in-store discounts off of the purchase of new jeans. ND's Future in Wind Energy appears Promising |

 North Dakota's future in wind energy is looking promising. According to a study by NDSU's Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics, wind energy had an economic impact of more than 170-million dollars in 2016. Tammy Ibach, director of North Dakotans for Comprehensive Energy Solutions said, "We have about a $119 million manufacturing influence that's attached to wind - those are strong economic indicators in the state, and when you see a downturn in oil and gas, and we know that we have another energy source that can pick up that slack it makes for a strong, vibrant economy in wind."

Highway officials in North Dakota and Saskatchewan say a super two-lane highway may be the way to go to facilitate traffic from Regina to Jamestown. David Marit, minister of Highways & Infrastructure in Saskatchewan, said Thursday the province is designing a project to build 16 to 18 sets of passing lanes on about 100 miles of two-laned Provincial 39, with potential to complete the new lanes by 2020. Thomas Sorel, director of the North Dakota Department of Transportation, said a similar plan is worth considering for U.S. Highway 52, which picks up where Provincial 39 leaves off at Portal.

Watford City's Golf Course to add 12 Holes by Fall 2018 |

While most people haven't been able to see much of the work, this has been a very busy construction year at Watford City's Fox Hills Golf Course as the course began its expansion to 18 holes. The work, hidden from view, has miraculously transformed the rolling hills and long valleys into 12 golf holes that wind up and down hills with fairways that are dotted with sand bunkers. Golf holes that wind around long lowlands filled with water and reeds. And huge, undulating greens, as well as miles of new concrete cart paths.

Surprise; ND has highest Percentage of Millennials |

A new report from the North Dakota Census Office finds that state has highest percentage of millennials in the country. Census Office Manager Kevin Iverson says many of those who moved to the state in the early years of the oil boom have stayed. He says it's not just because of the oil boom. The numbers of millenials has increased in Fargo, Bismarck and Grand Forks where the economy is strong and the unemployment rate is low.
