News Release - The North Dakota Governor's Office, the North Dakota Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Association of North Dakota (EDND) presented the Governor's Choice Economic Development Awards Oct. 29 during the EDND Fall Conference in Minot. The Economic Developer of the Year award in the urban community division went to Keith Lund, president/CEO of the Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corp. while the rural community division went to Julie Campbell, director of the Walsh County Job Development Authority. News Release - EDND, the North Dakota Governor's Office and the North Dakota Department of Commerce presented the 2018 Governor's Choice Economic Development Awards at the EDND Fall Conference in Minot. The recipient of Project of the Year- Urban Community Division award is the Greater Fargo Moorhead EDC for the Dakota Speciality Milling expansion. The recipient of the Rural Community Division is Stark Development Corporation for Stone Mill LLC. Williston School District to seek Voter Approval of $60 Million School Bond Jan. 8
Williston Herald - Voters will go to the polls Jan. 8 to decide whether to fund a $60 million plan to build two new elementary schools and an expansion to Williston High School as well as fund renovations to all the elementary schools in Williston Public School District No. 1. The district's school board voted unanimously Monday to put the bond referendum on the ballot for a January special election. Voters will also decide whether to approve increasing the district's building fund levy from 10 mills, which works out to about $45 per year for every $100,000 of taxable value, to 20 mills. Read More
Texas Firm to hire 300 Workers to build New Gas Plant near Watford City
KUMV-TV -  A Texas based company building a Natural gas processing plant near Watford City is looking for North Dakota workers starting in 2019.  Saulsbury Industries says they'll need laborers, welders, pipe fitters and electricians in March. General Manager John Shefchik says they're aiming for at least 100 local workers. "We'll probably be peaking at about 300 people on the job site. Probably at least half of those would be local. We like to go to the local, if not between 50 and 60 percent," said Shefchik.  Shefchik says the average job will last between six to eight months.
Equinor Exec, Comedian to highlight API Awards Banquet Nov. 16
News Release -  The 2018 Williston Petroleum Banquet and Achievement Awards will be held Friday, Nov. 16 at the Grand Williston Hotel. The evening will feature award presentations, a keynote address from Hang Nguyen, Manager of Development and Production International at Equinor, and entertainment from comedian John DeBoer. 
Williams County celebrates Grand Opening of Downtown Campus
 
Williston Herald - The county found its facility planner with the help of Aunt Google, and, of all the projects the county has done, Williams County Chairman David Montgomery thinks it's the best in his 14 years of service. "From county highway to the original jail, to the building of the Broadway Commons, and building out the youth assessment center ... this one has actually been the best we have had as far as accommodating everyone and the efficiency, with no cost over-runs," he said. New Owners take over Longtime Crosby Travel Agency

Crosby Journal -  The new owners of Travel World of Crosby are keeping the name but changing the location. Founders Steve and Ardis Joraanstad are closing their downtown office, ending a family business presence that dates back some seven decades.  The new owners are Allen and Whitney Siegler. Trail of Treats attracts Huge Crowd to Downtown Williston

 

Williston Economic Development - The 31st annual Trail of Treats attracted hundreds of families to Downtown Williston! Businesses from across Williston took part in the event; dressing up and handing out candy. The City of Williston helped serve sweets, drinks, light up safety buttons and bags at the Williston Downtowners Association's booth. Even the Mayor of Williston was involved! The WDA sponsors the Trail of Treats to provide a safe and fun Halloween activity for kids of all ages! Every child went home with a bag full of yummy treats!
