We have had a busy two weeks as we hosted the Williston Economic Development Summit, State of the City Address, Business After Hours, the WED/SBDC Awards Banquet and we attended the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck!

WED honors 2021 Award Winners

Williston Economic Development - Williston Economic Development was happy to celebrate the achievements of entrepreneurs, leaders and organizations at its annual awards banquet on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Eleven Restaurant and Lounge. The event featured live music from Mooncats, a Beulah-based band and dinner prepared by Eleven. Cherry Creek Radio's Scott Haugen was the emcee and The Creative Treatment and Nightlife Sound and Lighting of Bismarck provided professional audio and visual elements for both in-person and virtual participants. Mid-America EDC Marketing Award

News Release - The Mid-America Economic Development Council presented its annual Economic Development awards during the Virtual Best Practices Conference, held May 12-13, 2021! Award entries were accepted in two markets – large division (community population over 50,000) and small division (community population less than 50,000). The winner of the Marketing Program (small division) was the Williston Works Podcast submitted by Williston Economic Development. Read More

Petroleum Conference in Bismarck

Prairie Public News - Bismarck is hosting the annual Williston Basin Petroleum Conference this week. But there was some uncertainty going into it. "We were concerned, coming right off the Legislative session, and allowing the emergency order to expire -- what would the attendance be?" said North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources director Lynn Helms. Petroleum Conference

Bismarck Tribune - Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo believes it’s essential that other countries know they have a friend in the U.S. when it comes to energy. The former Trump administration official spoke Thursday at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference, which drew 2,600 people to Bismarck this week. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm also addressed the crowd via a prerecorded message, touting the Biden administration's green infrastructure plans. Read More
City of Williston accepts Cryptocurrency
for Utility Bills
News Release - The City of Williston is pleased to announce that it now accepts digital cryptocurrency payments for utility bills. “We have partnered with BitPay, the largest virtual payment merchant whose partners include Microsoft and Facebook,” explained Finance Director, Hercules Cummings. “We are the first municipality in the State of North Dakota, and the third in the nation, to offer this service.”  Read More

Williston Economic Development, Small Business Development Center create Humorous Video

Williston Economic Development - Have you ever had one of those days where nothing goes as planned? That's the theme of the above video produced and edited by Matt Fern of The Creative Treatment. The Bismarck-based videography firm has been making WED/SBDC videos for the past seven years. This year, Fern decided to have a little fun with the the staff and created this video of a failed Zoom meeting. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
