Williston Herald - The Williston Public Works Department celebrated National Public Works Week with a community outreach event at the Raymond Family Community Center on May 22. Public Works rolled out some of their heavy equipment, giving community members tours of the machinery and sharing news and updates about projects the department is working on. Read More

KUMV-TV - It's National Public Works Week.  In Williston, David Bell, the director of Public Works, says there has been an increased demand of labor. T he department has grown by around 100 employees over the past 20 years. In that time, they have tripled their equipment and staff at the landfill because average garbage intake has grown from 90 to 250 tons a day. A lot of their services have to be sub-contracted right now because they are short-staffed.  Read More

Roundup - After 22 years managing Fort Union Trading Post, Andy Banta has announced his retirement as of May 31. Andy began his 41+year career as a volunteer Park Ranger at Grand Canyon National Park, and made stops at Rocky Mountain National Park, Fort Laramie National Historic Site, Badlands National Park, and Fossil Butte National Monument.  Read More

KUMV-TV There were two dominant themes at Watford City's Main Street meeting with Gov. Doug Burgum and Lt. Gov. Brent Sanford May 23.  A labor crunch that has left 30,000-some positions open, many for high wages, and a big thorn in the side of hiring efforts in the Oil Patch - affordable housing.  "When we talk about Main Street, it's not about the literal physical main street," Burgum said. "It's about workforce. We have 30,000 job openings and we cannot fill them if we don't have places (those workers) want to live." Read More

2nd Chance Job Fair June 6 in North Dakota

News Release -  Job Service North Dakota is hosting its annual 2nd Chance Job Fair on June 6 in Bismarck, Grand Forks and Fargo, Gov. Doug Burgum announced today. The 2nd Chance Job Fair brings job seekers who may have barriers to employment into direct contact with employers that are willing to provide employment opportunities. "With more than 15,000 online job openings and an estimated 30,000 total jobs available in our state, we need to keep identifying and breaking down barriers to employment to ensure that every North Dakotan who wants to work has the opportunity," Burgum said.  Read More

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting for Truck Wash Express May 21 announcing their new Oil and Lube Services in addition to the Truck and Equipment Wash Services.  Truck Wash Express is open from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week. They are located at 10124 Loves Way.

Roundup - With more than 21 years of experience, owner Kip Sizemore of JW Mechanical is excited to bring his heating and cooling services to the  MonDak area.  Sizemore recently decided to move his business from Helena to  Sidney . He opened for business on May 20.  "We're basing our business out of Sidney," Sizemore said. "Someone told me there's a real need for this service in the area."  Read More
