Williston leads North Dakota in Airport Growth

News Release - North Dakota's eight commercial service airports finished calendar year 2019 with a statewide total of 1,191,569 passenger boardings.  This is a growth of 108,452 passengers or an 10% increase from 2018 numbers.  This also results in the second busiest year on record for North Dakota next to 2014, which occurred during the height of the state's oil boom. Read More
Sloulin Field Terminal to become 911 Dispatch Center

Williston Herald - Sloulin Field's terminal building will soon be taking on a new role as the region's 911 dispatch center.  At the Tuesday, Jan. 14 meeting of the Williston City Commission, Mayor Howard Klug addressed the commission, saying that over the last few years the city has outgrown its current 911 command center, as well as the Emergency Operations Center, which it shares with the county. Williston City Commission makes Plans for Williston Square Subdivision
Williston Herald - The upcoming redevelopment of Sloulin Field was the subject of four public hearings at Tuesday's meeting of the Williston City Commission. The items up for public hearing were a comprehensive plan amendment for the redevelopment, a preliminary plat for the Williston Square subdivision, a proposed Planned Unit Development Master Plan for Williston Square subdivision and for proposed Base Zoning for the subdivision. Read More
Williston City Commission approves $293,000 in STAR Fund Allocations
Williston Economic Development - The Williston City Commission has allocated up to $293,000 from the STAR Fund program for three projects and two programs at its January 14, 2020 meeting. The three projects include a daycare startup, purchase of an apartment building for Williston State College and purchase of property housing a radio tower. Read More
City of Williston seeks Input on Health Care Survey
News Release - The City of Williston is looking for community input as the final phase on the health care needs assessment the City Commission started in September 2019. An online survey has been created to collect community input. ONE BASIN One Way! Program nominated for Prestigious Award

News Release - Last month, Williston State College was named one of 30 community colleges selected as 2020 finalists for the coveted Bellwether Awards given by the Bellwether College Consortium (BCC). WSC's ONE BASIN One Way! program is a finalist in Workforce Development. Finalists will compete for the awards at the Community College Futures Assembly in San Antonio, Texas from February 2-4. Read More
Double EE Service revitalizes Nostalgic Lighted Derrick 
Williston Herald - A piece of iconic Williston oilfield history has a new life. The neon-lighted derrick that used to sit atop Mid-Continent Supply, an oilfield service company that dates back to the 1950s, is alight once again. Russell Evitt, who owns Double EE Service, said "It's probably the only one in North America, maybe the world. I'd like to know if there's another one somewhere." Evitt's father purchased the Midcontinent building in the 1970s, and the derrick came with it. Read More

Roundup - Island Kitchens held their ribbon cutting last Thursday. Nicole Lucina, Sidney Chamber office manager was also there to support Island Kitchens. Island Kitchens is located at 430 N. Central Ave., in the Shops at Fox Run, Sidney, and can be reached for carry out orders at 406-433-7820. They are open Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and closed Sunday. Read More
McKenzie County, Watford City experience Strong 3Q Growth in Taxable Sales and Purchases
McKenzie County Farmer - While most of North Dakota's major cities and counties saw a very modest growth in taxable sales and purchases in the third quarter of 2019, Watford City and McKenzie County, saw double digit growth. During the third quarter of 2019, Watford City's taxable sales and purchases grew by 15.93 percent from the same three-month period in 2018 to lead the state's largest cities.
