Middle School Unified Basketball
(New and Exciting Opportunity:
We are excited to kick off Wilson Middle School's inaugural season of Unified Basketball.
Special Olympics Unified Sports is a program that empowers individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to engage through the power of sports. Special Olympics Unified Sports is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences, joining everyone on the same team. Unified Sports was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
Our season will start and end in March 2020
. On average will meet twice per week. The schedule is as follows:
Monday (2/10) - Informational Meeting at Wilson in the Auditorium 2:05-2:30
Tuesday (3/3) - Registration forms are due
Wednesday (3/4) - First Practice 2:05-3:00
Tuesday (3/10) - Practice 2:05-3:00ish
Thursday (3/12) - @ FA Day 3:30 Start Time
Wednesday (3/18) - Practice 2:05-3:00
Tuesday (3/24) - Home vs Kennedy 3:00 Start Time
Thursday (3/26) - @ FA Day (Jamboree) 3:30 Start Time
Wednesday (4/1) - End of Season Get Together
The season begins the first week of March. The practices will take place immediately after school (2:05-3:00) so students can take the late bus. Most practices are on Wednesdays.
If your child is interested in being an athlete or partner, he or she should come to the informational meeting tomorrow, February 10 at 2:05 in the auditorium
. Paperwork will be handed out then. Necessary paperwork includes a current physical (must be after 3/1/19) and a confirmation of your Family ID online registration. Please see the attached steps to register for a sport on Family ID.
