We are changing our name, and want your help!
On a daily basis, our credit union is confused with other credit unions such as Utah First Credit Union, University of Utah Credit Union, Utah Community Credit Union, and even University of Tennessee Credit Union. People searching for these credit unions on Google and other internet search engines are often led to call our phone number or go to our website, which leads to confusion and frustration. Our credit union has received direct deposit funds that are supposed to be routed to other credit unions, loan payments in error, and we receive car titles in error, etc..
We want to stand out, and create a unique name that is unique to our credit union! So, we are asking for your help! We are having a contest, and the member that submits the new credit union name as chosen by our Board of Directors will win $500!
Entry deadline is 5PM, Monday, August 31, 2020. One entry per member (so make it your best one!). Submissions may be submitted by e-mail to
, or written submissions may be dropped off in a sealed envelope at the credit union's office, or mailed to Utah Federal Credit Union, 564 East 300 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84102.
The winner will be decided at our September 2020 Board of Directors meeting. The earlier you submit your entry, the better. If 2 of the same name is chosen, precedence will be given to whomever submits the winning entry first. Geographic names will be disqualified (i.e. cannot contain geographic names such as Salt Lake City or Utah within the name). Entries cannot be the name of an existing or former name of any credit union in the United States. Submissions cannot be a trademarked name.
Here are a few examples of what we are looking for. Grand County Credit Union in Moab, Utah, changed their name a couple of years ago to Desert Rivers Credit Union. Box Elder County Credit Union in Brigham City, Utah, recently changed their name to Elevate Credit Union. And, Weber State Credit Union in Ogden, Utah, recently changed their name to Ascent Credit Union.
For those of you who were at our annual meeting this past March who heard this announcement and have already submitted your entries, we have your entries on file and they will be reviewed. We postponed this contest while the credit union shifted operations due to COVID-19. There is no need to resubmit your entry.
Good luck, and we look forward to see what you submit to us!
