If you have not registered and are still sitting on the fence, I am challenging you to take 15 minutes today to look at what the CLA National Forum has to offer you as part of stimulating education, discussions and networking.

The main purpose of this Forum is to bring together the many voices, educated and experienced voices, the voices of those new to the field and the voices of our stakeholders so that we can summarize the major highlights, the big ideas and the ah-ha moments from the 2016 Forum discussions to share with the new Canadian Federation of Library Associations. The key findings, brought together, will catalyze a new era of engagement, focus, and impact.

We have over 30 thought provoking presenters that will get the discussions going on key topics.

Take a look! Each link will take you to the session description and our presenters!

Closing Keynote Luncheon

Globally, memory institutions are recognizing the importance of making their analogue collections available online.  In order to ensure our efforts are as efficient as possible, broad digitization strategies are being developed all around the world. Canada itself is putting in place a national documentary heritage digitization strategy, which will bring together archives, libraries, museums and galleries, associations, non-profit organizations, corporations, and other interested parties to coordinate the digitization for discovery, access and preservation of Canadian analogue cultural heritage.
On the occasion of the official launch of Canada's national documentary heritage digitization strategy, Library and Archives Canada has brought together speakers who can provide advice about different aspects of digitization from the perspective of their organizations:
  • Dan Cohen, Executive Director, Digital Public Library of America;
  • Dan Jones, Global Vice President of Content, Ancestry;
  • Dr Hildelies Balk-Pennington de Jongh , Head of the Division Marketing & Services, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, and,
  • Rolf Källman, Head of Department, Digisam
  • Dr. Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada
