KAAR OFFICE REOPENING: With COVID infection rates and hospitalizations continuing to fall, the KAAR office will be reopening to members on Monday, April 5. For now, all professional development classes will remain virtual. Members visiting the office are strongly encouraged to wear a mask out of respect for the staff's health. We look forward to seeing you!
Win a free FlexMLS or Catylist Subscription by completing NAR's Fairhaven Simulator by Friday, April 30, 2021!
All KAAR members who complete the Fairhaven Simulator between now and the last day of April will have their name entered into a drawing for a free flexMLS or Catylist subscription for the upcoming subscription period (2021-2022). In order to be entered into the drawing, members must send their certificate of completion to Steve Lawson by April 30, 2021.

KAAR President Shannon Foster-Boline will draw two members' names in early May. If a member has already paid his or her flexMLS or Catylist fee for the upcoming period, the amount will be reimbursed if he or she is one of the lucky winners.

If you have already completed the Fairhaven program, you are still eligible to participate. Members can access their certificate of Completion by logging into https://fairhaven.realtor.
In November 2020, NAR launched Fairhaven, a new fair housing simulation training for REALTORS® that uses the power of storytelling to help members identify, prevent, and address discriminatory practices in real estate. Inspired by real stories, this innovative online experience has agents work against the clock to sell homes in the fictional town of Fairhaven, while confronting discrimination in the homebuying process. Learners will also walk in the shoes of a homebuyer facing discrimination. The training provides customized feedback that learners can apply to daily business interactions.

MAY 13, 2021 | Benevolent Fund Fundraiser Presented by the KAAR Affiliate Committee @ Parkway Drive-In
Last year the association started the process of creating The Knoxville Area Association of REALTORS(R) Benevolent Fund to benefit KAAR members facing extraordinary financial hardships. The Fund, designed to be a 501(c)(3), is in the final stages of IRS approval and will be one of only a dozen or so among REALTOR associations across the country. Look for complete details about the Benevolent Fund to be announced in the near future.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for a Thursday evening May 13th fundraiser at The Parkway Drive-in in Maryville. The association's Affiliate Committee is planning this fun kickoff fundraiser with all proceeds going directly to the Benevolent Fund. THANK YOU KAAR Affiliates!

Agency Status: "Unrepresented"?

Q: I am looking for a form that a party signs stating that I am not representing them.

A: You can have the party sign a Confirmation of Agency status form, ed. Form RF301, Working with a Real Estate Professional, may also be helpful. It explains to an unrepresented party the duties a licensee owes to their clients and has an explanation of terms commonly used.
