Congratulations to the 2024

Jeffco Writing Challenge

& I Love to Read Winners

Last school year, over 2,100 Jefferson county students wrote stories and created artwork for the Jeffco Writing Challenge and I Love to Read Contests. ENC chose over 150 winners this year! The annual contests are sponsored by Education Nonprofit Corporation (ENC) in collaboration with Jefferson county educators.

Oberon Middle School hit it out of the ballpark, with over 93 percent of their students submitting entries in the 2023-24 Jeffco Writing Challenge, and over 35 individual awards won!

In honor of a beloved student and son, ENC extends our sincere condolences to the family of Gustavo Sandoval and to his community. In his remembrance, we pay tribute to him.

First place winners received $100, and second, third, and honorable mention winners received $25, $15, and $10 Amazon gift cards, respectively.

Last year's Writing Challenge prompts asked students to write about how they might spread kindness at their schools, and the I Love to Read contest asked students to write and illustrate a sentence beginning with “I love to read.” “Students wrote amazing stories of kindness this year and described great ideas for creating kindness in our schools. We are so proud of all the students who participated in the contests this year,” said Linda Rediger, Director and co-founder of ENC: “The illustrations and ‘I Love to Read’ contest entries were inspiring as well. We look forward to hearing from students in this next year's upcoming contest."

Winning Schools for the Jeffco Writing Challenge and I Love to Read received a total of $11,300 in donations for the highest percentage of winning contest entries vs enrollment

Congratulations

to all the participants and winners!

We Love Hearing from Winners

"Our check has arrived, and we've begun putting it to use! This year we're investing in some poetry collections and materials for what will be our 3rd annual African American Read In (in conjunction with NCTE). Likewise, we have plans to take our AP and National English Honors Society students to a theatre production this fall.  As always, the ENC's gracious support of our literary pursuits is greatly appreciated. We enjoy participating in the contests... and putting our winnings to work to continue developing our programs and engaging students in literacy-rich activities. 🙂"
