How many of our seniors are artists - whether oil or watercolor? Once you have completed your creation, you'll be asked to provide a picture of your "Masterpiece" to us, and you'll have a few chances to win prizes. PLUS - we would like to show off your artwork for the public to enjoy in our "gallery" at Town Hall.

Monday March 1 thru Friday April 2

Due to the limited number of people that can be on the bus at one time, you will be required to call in and reserve your spot between Monday—Wednesday of each week. The route will vary week to week. You will receive a phone call with your pick up time Wednesday afternoon. The time that you may have to remain at a given store may vary slightly each week based upon the number of participants involved. Call us at 892-1905 to reserve your spot.

Working Together for Windham
We have joined forces with Windham Social Services to make sure our seniors have access to food and medicine during these challenging times. Please call 892-1905 if you need assistance with these essentials.

Simply call our office at 892-1905 and someone will take your order over the phone (available items include pasta, fruit, protein, and more) and the Parks & Recreation van will deliver the food to you at home. This service is available on Monday - Wednesday only from 8 am - 3:30 pm. Please share this with any neighbors you know who may not be able to get to the grocery store and may benefit from this service!
If you need medicine, please call your pharmacy to have your prescription filled and ready for pickup. We will pick up at the pharmacy and deliver it to you.

Things to consider:

Program Modifications to be expected
In order for us to offer senior programming, there are changes that we have had in place throughout the pandemic. We are working with the CDC’s recommended safety guidelines, which include:
· No more than 5 passengers per bus.
· Wearing of masks required
· Local excursions only
· Temperature taken before boarding

Additional program information:
· No group rates may result in higher fees (please consider the Senior Voucher program if you qualify)
· Possibility of multiple days to the same destination for trips that may have a waiting list
· Lunch spots will be hard to secure and may not be able to happen regularly.
Senior Voucher Program
Windham residents ages 55+ are eligible for funding based on income and need. In order to maximize the number of seniors we can assist, partial scholarships consisting of vouchers will be awarded for 50% or 75% off the program fee. Fee will be adjusted at the time of registration.
In order to be eligible for this ongoing scholarship program, you must complete an application and meet with Windham Social Services to be approved. Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be awarded a voucher; however, if you are awarded a voucher, it will apply for a full year for participation in any Windham Parks and Recreation senior trips or activities.
In order to complete your application, you will need to schedule a meeting with Windham Social Services by calling 892-1906. If you have no means of transportation, this interview can be an ADA phone interview with the General Assistance Manager, Rene’ Daniels. You will need to bring with you:
  • Proof of residency (utility bill or lease or mortgage statement)
  • Proof of Income (Avesta Housing residents automatically qualify, so you’ll only have to indicate the Avesta Housing Complex in which you reside.)
To print the application click here, you may also pick one up a paper application in the Parks & Recreation office, or you may call us at 892-1905 and we will mail one to you.
