Windmist Farm

Windmist Farm in Jamestown, Rhode Island, is the perfect example of how sustainable choices can benefit both the environment and a small businesses' bottom line. Martha Neal and her husband George decided to pursue a clean energy system in 2018, redefining the farm's carbon footprint, and significantly reducing their energy bills. 

Since the 1960s, Windmist Farm has been family-owned and operated, providing high quality, grass-fed and pasture-raised meat and eggs, along with vegetables and other products. 

“We require a lot of storage for these products; we run five chest freezers as well as two walk-in freezers and a cooler. We looked into solar years ago and decided it was too costly, but in 2018 the town of Jamestown ran an incentive program called Solarize Jamestown, and it seemed like the right time to look into it again,” said Martha.

Construction Underway at Warwick Park & Ride

Under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program, two new high-speed electric vehicle (EV) fast chargers are under construction at the Warwick Park & Ride, in addition to the five stations already at this location. New stations will be open for service Summer 2024.

Rhode Island celebrates the historic launch of Gripper, the newest offshore wind Crew Transfer Vessel

OER joined state and federal leaders along with Blue Economy stakeholders from across the region to celebrate the launch of Gripper, the newest Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) proudly crafted right here in Rhode Island. 

This sleek vessel, dedicated to servicing the Ørsted and Eversource offshore wind projects, was constructed by Blount Boats and now operated by American Offshore Wind Services. 

The Gripper symbolizes Rhode Island's leadership and commitment to offshore wind, job creation and groundbreaking innovation.
