New season of Open Table kicks off Sept. 5
You're invited to a new season of Open Table! Dinner is every Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by programs for all ages at 6:30 p.m., including these opportunities:
  • Open Table Kickoff Night: Join us Sept. 5 for "How Can I Keep From Singing," a lively program led by Heather and Kenney Potter.
  • Authentic Living in a Wired World: Contemplate how to prevent social media from hijacking the courage to be our unique selves. Sept. 12-Nov. 7 in FH207.
  • The Bible Skimmed, Our 10 Favorite Back-Pocket Scriptures with Bob Henderson and Jessica Patchett. Sept. 12-Nov. 14 in FH203.
  • Covenant Choir: New night! Join us in the Peek Music Room from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Those interested in singing for special occasions only (such as All Saints Day or Lessons & Carols, etc.) are welcomed to attend from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Childcare is provided.
  • Children's Choirs (Grades K-5): Parents and singers are invited to an Enrollment Party on Sept. 5 at 5:45 p.m. as we learn to be worship leaders. Rehearsals are 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 12.
  • Young Scholars, an elementary children's Bible study, meets in Ed Wing 218.
  • Music & Movement: Ages 4-5 are invited for a high-energy Bible story with music beginning Sept. 12. Drop-off is in Rec Wing kitchen area.
  • Childcare for infants-K is available from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Youth Groups (Grades 6-12): Open Gym hosted by Perrin Tribble. Film+Theology discussion hosted by Levi Bannerman.

A look at this Sunday's worship schedule
Sunday marks the final week of our summer worship schedule.
  • Contemporary worship at 9:30 a.m.
  • Traditional worship at 11 a.m.
  • Contemporary worship at 11 a.m. (Fellowship Hall)
  • Adult Summer Sunday School: Stan Bracey will lead a discussion at 9:30 a.m.
  • Youth and Children's Sunday School is also offered at 9:30 a.m.
Wiley Cash's latest book offers an opportunity for local Christians to wrestle with our faith commitments and how they inform how we engage issues of employment, race, gender, the church and local politics.

Wiley will deliver the Twitty Lecture on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall as we kick off a new season of Adult Education.  Wiley will also speak in the 11 a.m. FH service. Details here.

Congregational meeting is coming up
Sunday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m.
A congregational meeting will be held to elect 10 adult elders to the Session class of 2021 and two Youth Elders to serve one-year terms beginning Jan. 1. Nominations may be made from the floor. The nominee must consent and be  present. Meet nominees in the forthcoming September newsletter.

Hit the road with new Covenant Running Club
First run is Thursday, Sept. 6
Whether you're an experienced runner or totally new to the sport, we would love to have you. Each session, in addition to a run, will include an uplifting devotional and a time for prayer. Beginning Sept. 6, we will meet Thursdays at 6:45 p.m. and Tuesdays at 6:15 a.mDetails here.

Hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m. Mon-Thurs, 8:30 to 3 p.m. Fridays
