Busy week for capital campaign
Q&A tonight; groundbreaking Sunday
You're invited to hear about progress on our child development center/hospitality space and investment in affordable housing. Bring your questions!
  • Tonight at 6:30 p.m. in FH (main)
Groundbreaking Ceremony: Join us Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for a brief ceremony on the Circle (next to Sanctuary).
  • Covenant kids (ages 4 years to 5th grade) and VBS campers are invited to participate in the ceremony. Children will sing "We Will Build This House" as we turn the first shovels.
    • Practice for the song will be held during Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 10:35 a.m. Kids in 2nd through 5th grades will be escorted by their teachers to the ceremony. 
    • Parents of children ages 4 through 1st grade who wish to participate should plan to pick up their kids and escort them to the ramp by the Education Wing entrance. Those not attending Sunday School who want to join should also be brought to the ramp by 10:30 a.m.

Special music this week
Charlotte Flute Choir joins worship
The Charlotte Flute Choir will lead in 11 a.m. Sanctuary worship under the direction of David Mills, a Covenant member.  Our own Emily Schauer and cellist Suzanne Harmon will be with the group.

In the 8:45 a.m. Chapel service, we will hear a setting of Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing by  Amy Henion, mezzo-soprano.

Habitat build is Friday and Saturday
Join the crew to provide home for a family
A church-wide build on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21-22, will provide a home for a Charlotte family in need. All experience levels are welcome.

We are specifically looking for folks to provide lunch for the crew! RSVP here.

Ways to support victims of Hurricane Florence
  • Make a donation to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
  • Bring non-perishable food items and bottled water to Loaves & Fishes donation bins in the Rec Wing. Items support those displaced and in short-term crisis in Mecklenburg County.
Men's fellowship breakfast welcomes Joe B. Martin
Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7 a.m.
Men of Covenant are invited for breakfast and a message from Joe B. Martin, who grew up at Covenant and is now minister at Sardis Presbyterian Church. Joe will share how Covenant influenced his faith journey. RSVP here.

Flu shots available at Covenant
Sunday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The only people who should not get a flu shot are those who are under six months of age or who have a known allergy to one of the ingredients. There is no other reason not to get one. 

Covenant will have a flu shot clinic on Sunday, Sept. 30 in FH105 and again on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. in FH105. Walk-ins are welcome. Contact Mary Mattiacci for questions.

Fellowship Class invites you to drop in

  • Sunday, Sept. 30: Understanding Technology and the Middle School Student, a panel discussion with Alan Becker, Covenant parent and teacher; Susan Billmire; MSY Director Perrin Tribble and current seniors Zane Shockley and Katie Batten.
  • Sunday, Oct. 7: Popular author Michelle Icard will talk about her book Middle School Makeover
Jonathan Grier joins staff as Food Service Manager
Jonathan Grier will join the staff on Oct. 1 as our Food Service Manager.
Jon has 23 years' experience in the food service industry, including 14 years in management positions. Those include four years as Manager of Wolfman Pizza, five years with Chartwells (the college division of the Compass Group) at UNC Charlotte and for the past four years as Dietary Manager in senior healthcare facilities. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University and is a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM).
