THANK YOU TO CTV FOR HIGHLIGHTING CANCER RESEARCH

In October, Rich Garton from CTV Windsor created a 5 part series on the collaborative nature of cancer research in our region. He highlighted the various players that are key to growing a strong research network and the importance of working together to ensure patients in Windsor get the best care. Rich visited the University of Windsor researchers and students, Windsor Regional Hospital Clinical Trials Department, spoke to Medical Oncologists, medical students, patients and local  fundraising organizations. PLAY FOR A CURE PRO AM TOURNAMENT IN WINDSOR


WCRG Research Ambassador and Pro Am Tournament event chair, Jeff Casey is leading a group of dedicated individuals to host a hockey experience that will raise money for cancer research. At a press conference on December 10th, Jeff Casey, David Musyj, Dora Cavallo-Medved and Todd Warriner shared their commitment and excitement for the upcoming event. CANCER RESEARCH CONFERENCE

On Saturday, November 17, 2018, WCRG hosted its 4th Biennial International Cancer Research Conference at Caesars Windsor. The conference was attended by over 160 scientists, clinicians, nurses, research associates, administrators and students who came together from Windsor-Essex, our neighbouring communities of London and Michigan and other Canadian research institutions to share their latest research findings. WCRG RESEARCHER SNAPDSHOT
 
WCRG continues to partner with snapd Windsor to highlight our WCRG cancer researchers through a feature called "WCRG Researcher Snapdshot". Interviews can be found in the print edition of snapd Windsor and on the WCRG website. The goal of these "Snapdshots" is to raise awareness about the cancer research conducted in Windsor-Essex and stimulate new research collaborations. BUILDING OUR RESEARCH COMMUNITY
 
WCRG continues to focus on building research collaborations through its Cancer Research Think Tank series that brings pe o p l e together to s hare research ideas in an effort to build projects and increase the number o f cancer research grant submissions. To date, we have hosted 11 Think Tanks with:
  • 366 participants
  • 160 different individuals representing 5 hospitals, 8 universities/colleges and 7 industrial partners
  • 31 presenters
