Hello Windsor!
November is upon us, and two of the most important days of the year are around the corner.
Tuesday, November 5, is election day. I encourage all of you to take part in the democratic process. As they say, "Your vote is your voice," so let's have a strong turnout this year!
Monday, November 11, is Veterans Day. Each year this day is set aside to recognize and thank those who have given so much to ensure we have the choice to vote, have a voice, and live the wonderful lives we do in this great community.
Please drive carefully and watch out for ghosts and goblins tonight!

GREEN HALLOWEEN PARTY 2024 RECAP
|
Thank you to our community members who joined us at the
1st Annual Green Halloween Party on October 13.
The event was a collaboration between the Town and Sonoma County Resource Recovery. The event included 10 volunteers, 3 local businesses, and 5 local organizations showcasing how fun throwing a sustainable, zero-waste event is!
| |
The event, part of the countywide Zero Waste Week, diverted approximately 125 pounds of costumes, decorations, crafting materials, and organic materials, including pumpkin carvings, snack ware, and plants from the landfill.

WINDSOR CRV CENTER LOCATION
|
Windsor California Redemption Value (CRV) Center
Closing November 30, Transition in Progress.
Attention Windsor residents: The CRV center operated by United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay (UCPNB) on Bluebird Drive will close on November 30, 2024, as its two-year pilot program and agreement with the Town of Windsor conclude.
| | |
|
|
Efforts are underway to open a new CRV redemption location at Windsor Creek Elementary School.
Until the new center opens, residents can redeem their California Redemption Value (CRV) bottles and cans at these nearby facilities:
- 370 Sebastopol Rd, Santa Rosa, CA
- 485 Grove St, Healdsburg, CA
- 1000 Gravenstein Hwy N, Sebastopol, CA
| |
|
When the Brogard Recycling Center in Windsor closed in 2022, citing continued operating losses due to a volatile recyclable commodity market, residents were left without an in-town CRV option. In response, the Town of Windsor partnered with Zero Waste Sonoma and UCPNB to establish the Bluebird Drive CRV kiosk through a CalRecycle-funded pilot program.
Following feedback regarding space and recycling capacity limitations at the Bluebird Drive location, the Town collaborated with UCPNB and the Windsor Unified School District to designate Windsor Creek Elementary School as a future CRV redemption site. An MOU with the district is in place, and final CalRecycle approval is anticipated soon.
With the expiration of the Bluebird Drive agreement, the space will be transitioned to a Community Resiliency Hub operated by Nuestra Comunidad, a Windsor nonprofit organization. The Resiliency Hub will provide essential support, including emergency preparedness resources, health and safety programs, and crisis assistance, helping residents prepare for future emergencies.
