A McPhee Associates of Cape Cod Quarterly Newsletter | | |
Greetings!
With Thanksgiving just a couple days away, I’ve been reflecting on everything I’m grateful for this year. Last month, our team had the incredible honor of winning four BRICC Awards for excellence in building and remodeling — a true testament to the hard work, creativity, and dedication of our team. You can read more about that below.
This year, we’ve also had the joy of helping homeowners bring their dream homes to life. In this newsletter, you can take a peek at two recently completed homes in the Windward East and Windward Village communities, as well as catch up on updates from other projects we’ve been following in our newsletters and on social media. Through it all, we remain deeply grateful to all of you — our clients, team members, and trade partners. Your support, trust, and collaboration make everything we do possible.
Some of the most rewarding moments for me come from watching projects evolve and take shape over time — not just from seeing the finished result. With that in mind, we’re excited to share a glimpse of one of our newest projects: a three-bedroom home overlooking the bay in Eastham. Below, you’ll find 3D designs of the home before construction begins. We’ll continue to follow this project in upcoming newsletters, and we can’t wait to share the journey with you.
If you’ve been thinking about home repairs or upgrades, now is a great time to start planning for next year. We’d love to hear your ideas — feel free to call or email our office to get started.
Finally, a quick note about the holidays: our office will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, so our team can travel and prepare for Thanksgiving. We’ll reopen on Monday, December 1. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out before the holiday break.
Wishing you and yours a warm, joyful, and restful Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Rob McPhee

It’s that time of year again—winter will be here before we know it! Cold weather can put a strain on a home if it isn’t properly protected, so our team has put together some essential winterization tips to help keep your home safe this season.
Clean gutters: Keeping gutters clear helps prevent ice dams and water damage.
Turn on humidifiers: Maintaining stable indoor humidity protects woodwork and plaster by reducing shrinking and cracking throughout the year.
Winterize your irrigation system: Contact your irrigation vendor to schedule winterization and keep their contact info handy for spring startup.
Protect frost-free hose hookups: Disconnect hoses from outdoor spigots, locate the cold-water line in the basement, close the shut-off, and open the bleeder valve as an extra precaution.
Drain outdoor shower valves: Make sure all outdoor shower valves are properly drained and stored for the season. (Winterization steps vary depending on your setup; some systems require parts to be removed.)
Make a Home Monitoring Plan: Keep an eye on your home, including mechanical systems, especially during storms. If you’re not already signed up for routine property checks, consider weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly visits. Please note: during very cold or stormy periods, our team can increase the frequency as needed (Reach out to our Property Management team to set up a plan that works for you.)
If you’d like guidance or support with winter preparations, our Property Management team is here to help.

This summer, we professionally photographed two homes our team designed and built for clients in Windward East and Windward Village—neighboring East Dennis communities developed by our company, featuring traditional Cape- and New England-style homes.
While all lots in Windward East are sold, two lots remain available in Windward Village. You can learn more about these communities in the Our Neighborhoods section below.

Our team designed this three-bedroom home overlooking the bay in Eastham to celebrate the Cape’s natural beauty while meeting the challenges of a complex coastal site. The design reflects the clients’ vision of a traditional New England-style home with a gambrel roofline.
The 3,900-square-foot home replaces two existing structures on a lot that sits partially in a flood zone, bordering coastal banks and dunes. Before designing, our team consulted with various town departments to review the challenges this location brings with the scope of work desired. We brought a team of professionals together – from engineers, ecological specialist’s and attorneys—to work with us throughout the permitting process.
The home was designed to take full advantage of the water views. The rear of the home features expansive windows and a climate-controlled indoor-outdoor lounge with a pop-up bar window and dual-sided wood-burning fireplace. The second-floor primary suite opens to a private balcony with sweeping bay views. A guest suite above the garage and another on the main level complete the home’s three-bedroom layout, which also includes three full baths and two half baths.
With thoughtful design and careful planning, this Eastham home embodies the homeowners’ love of the Cape—a serene retreat to enjoy the sun, sand, and sweeping coastal views.

We were honored to take home four BRICC Awards last month. The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Cape Cod’s biennial event, held this year at Wychmere Beach Club, celebrates excellence in building and remodeling across Cape Cod and the Islands.
With a record-breaking 182 project submissions and 70 awards presented, we were proud to have four of our projects recognized. It was a memorable evening—and a wonderful opportunity to connect with peers and celebrate the creativity and dedication that define our local building industry.

| | | In the spirit of the giving season, we wanted to spotlight a few local nonprofits we hold dear and support each year. | | |
As builders, this cause really resonates with us. Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has helped local families, with volunteer support, build more than 200 affordable homes, promoting stability, self-reliance, and community. Their South Yarmouth ReStore sells new and gently used furniture, home goods, building materials, and appliances at a fraction of retail prices, with all proceeds directly supporting Habitat’s mission of providing safe, affordable housing for Cape Cod families.

We’re committed to helping our neighbors fight food insecurity, which is why we donate each year to The Family Pantry of Cape Cod.
Serving more than 800 people weekly—from retirees on fixed incomes to local service workers—the nonprofit relies on over 650 volunteers. Its programs include the food pantry, the Healthy Meals in Motion Mobile Pantry serving many lower and outer Cape seniors, and the Second Glance Thrift Shop, which helps fund its mission.

Housing Assistance Corporation has supported stable housing on the Cape and Islands for more than 50 years. They sell affordable homes through a lottery system, administer funding to help people stay in or secure housing, and offer first-time homebuyer classes. We donate to this organization each year because we believe deeply in its mission. Through its initiatives, Housing Assistance strengthens our year-round communities by expanding affordable housing.
