A Beaujolais Tasting!
- Thursday, November 15th -

For decades, the wonderful Beaujolais region of France has been unfairly tarnished by their annual production of "Nouveau" harvest celebration wines.

On Thursday, November 15th, we aim to correct this injustice with a tasting of over two dozen world-class selections from Beaujolais, focusing not on the Nouveau but on 2015 and 2016 vintage bottlings from some of the region's most exciting producers!

We'll take you on a tasting journey through this amazing region as we sample artisan wines imported by Kermit Lynch, The Source, Louis/Dressner, Michael Corso and Jenny & Fran├žois, along with a handful of delicious "direct import" surprises.

To complement the wines we'll have mouthwatering appetizers from the talented kitchen of Le Bouchon, an iconic Chicago French Bistro that specializes in the cuisine of Burgundy. This is guaranteed to be a fun evening filled with top-notch wines that will be perfect to pour at your Thanksgiving table and other holiday gatherings. The cost is just $25 per person and reservations are required. And yes, we'll also have the 2018 Nouveau wines open for you to try!

Roederer Estate
Brut NV
Anderson Valley, California
Long, powerful and oh-so-satisfying, this impressive sparkler from the California outpost of family-owned Champagne house Louis Roederer is one of the world's very best bubbly bargains.

Layer after layer of citrus and orchard fruit flavors flow across the palate, followed seamlessly by a powerful wave of brioche and a delicate wisp of cherry, hazelnut and baking spice. All this, cleansed by  persistent bubbles.

Louis Roederer  founded this California estate in 1982. Since then, the family has utilized their 200-year tradition of producing great Champagne to make the most of their estate-grown Anderson Valley fruit.  Think about it - the expertise behind the crafting of some of the great Champagnes of the world, including Cristal, is put into this incredible $19.99 non-vintage sparkler. No wonder this stuff is so good!

Writing that it displays "an almost effortless sense of complexity," Wine Spectator awards it a whopping 93 points.  For reference, that's a higher score than Wine Spectator has EVER given many top Champagnes, including the iconic Veuve Clicquot "Yellow Label" and, interestingly, even to Roederer's own "Brut Premier" Champagne!

"Seamless and silky, showing an almost effortless sense of complexity, with notes of lemon and pear paired with toasty brioche, fresh ginger and hazelnut details. Drink now."
- 93 Points, Wine Spectator (7/31/2018)

At the Vin Chicago price of $19.99, this is the perfect sparkler to enjoy throughout all your holiday celebrations. It also makes a great match with sushi or fried chicken. Grab a case and bask in the beautiful bubbles!

Booker's 96-Point "My Favorite Neighbor" Cabernet Blend!

2016 Booker Vineyards
"My Favorite Neighbor" Cabernet Blend
Paso Robles, Central Coast, California
Booker Vineyards' "My Favorite Neighbor" is one of the hottest cult wines in the country. Even Forbes is writing about this stunning Cabernet Blend!

For this 2016 edition, proprietor Eric Jensen has made a label change. He created the wine as an homage to his mentor, Stephan Asseo of L'Aventure. Now, Eric has expanded the label to also honor three talented individuals, Micaela, Angelica and Aurelio, that help him craft this wine in the vineyard.

That story is beautiful. The wine is even better. Check out this spot-on 96-point Wine Advocate review...

"The 2016 My Favorite Neighbor Proprietary Blend is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 11% Petit Verdot. Very deep purple-black colored, it reveals intense cassis, ripe plums and wild blueberries with touches of licorice, tilled soil and black pepper with a waft of floral notions. Full, rich, chocolaty and oh-so-seductive, it fills the mouth with generous crushed black berries flavors framed by rounded tannins and finishing long and spicy. Drink Date: 2020 - 2036."
- 96 Points, Wine Advocate (10/29/2018)

Typical price is around $80. As usual, we're a few bucks less. Grab a few bottles to share with your neighbors over the next 15+ years. Limited supply.
