Greetings!
This week we return to Chile with another great value from Vi�a Chocalan, this time a $12 Cabernet from their 'Inspira' line. And as it happens, our white wine we had planned for today did not arrive so after a bit of scrambling, we're putting the Renaudie Sauvignon Blanc back on sale. It's great wine, and once again perfect for a nice sunny weekend. Complimenting those wines we have the 'Les Garrigues' from Languedoc legend Pierre Clavel and the Shannon 'Mount Bullet' Merlot; South Africa's answer to Pomerol. We'll have all 4 bottles open for sampling tomorrow, from 2 to 5 PM.

2011 'Inspira' Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
"Inspira is made by Vi�a Chocal�n from their vineyards on the hillsides of Melipilla in the Maipo  Valley. They have slightly less intensity than the Chocal�n wines, yet display pure juicy fruit, soft tannins, in the case of the Cabernet, and supple texture. Only the free-run juice is used to give extremely pure wines, which are clean and rounded, have great natural balance without any bitterness or harsh tannins, this wine over delivers at this price point. Bright ruby red in colour. On the nose it is fruit forward with plenty of red plum and bright red berry aromas. On the palate, darker fruit flavours such as blackberries and black plum are evident along with a touch of spice and herbal character. Soft tannins, medium bodied, this Cabernet is very well balanced, vibrant and smooth to finish." - Winemaker's Notes

2011 Domaine de la Renaudie Sauvignon Blanc 
"This Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is great as an aperitif, but it also serves as a great accompaniment to fish and poultry dishes. Exuberant notes of citrus, minerals and white flowers on the nose. More of the same on the palate with ripe melon flavours emerging and an underpinning of lime zest and fresh herbs. Vibrant acidity and great length, makes this wine consistently a tremendous value."

2010 Domaine Clavel 'Les Garrigues'
"Positioned in a stunning setting at the edge of Montpellier with the sea in the distance,  Domaine Clavel sits on impoverished, stony slopes just outside of the city where some of the best potential of the area exists for making top-quality wine. These slopes, made up of 'Mejanelle', a soil of free-draining, round pebbles (galets) and boulders eroded from the Alps, foster the growth of ripe fruit with an abundance of spice and pepper character. Grapes are always hand harvested and bottling is completed without fining or filtration to retain all of the natural exuberance of the fruit. The 'Les Garrigues' is a blend of 52% Syrah, 26% Mourvedre and 22% Grenache. This intensely flavourful wine is quite full-bodied, while giving off enticing aromatics. The flavours here are classic Southern French; Lots of dark fruit, spice, anise and roasted earth framed by chewy tannins and balanced acidity. 2009 Shannon Merlot Mount Bullet 
"This wine is 100% Merlot from Bordeaux and Italian clones and is a dead ringer for a top flight Pomerol (think Gazin or Hosanna for a third the price). The palate shows remarkable concentration and delineation while exhibiting dense flavours of black currant, violets and cedar along with sweet vanillin echoes. Make no mistake though, this is not a 'wimpy' Merlot, it brings the tannins and it packs more flavour than you'd probably expect. If you really like BIG wines, drink it now but this will also reward cellaring of 10+ years. This is a benchmark for South African wine."
