Isaiah 26:3 NKJV

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

Dear Faith Family,

We are thankful that all that was lost due to Hurricane Dorian were a couple of school days. In the middle of the literal and figurative storms, we are grateful that we can be in perfect peace when we magnify the Lord God above all else.

Even though the outside temperatures do not bear witness, fall is here! That means the school year is in full swing, and so much teaching and learning is happening. From the excitement of learning to read for the first time, to the application of scientific theories, we count it a privilege to do all this in an atmosphere that honors the God. Please take a moment to scroll down and see the great things our students are doing.

Last month, our new staff was listed in this column. This month, we are excited to announce the hiring of our final full-time teacher, Mrs. Lois Polese. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a Minor in Education, and a Masters Degree in English Literature. Mrs. Polese's Teaching Certification: State of Florida; Temporary Teaching Certificate - Elementary Education (K-6). Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Polese.

In Faith and Friendship,

A Visit from Johnny Appleseed
In celebration of "Johnny Appleseed Day," David Holley, with the Fernandina Parks and Recreation Department, dressed up as "Johnny Appleseed." Much to the delight of our elementary school students, Mr. Holley shared how Johnny Appleseed, due to his kind and generous ways, became an American legend.
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Professional Leadership Committee (PLC) hosted a Family Movie Night on Friday night, September 27th. The movie was Secret Life of Pets 2 , and was enjoyed along with concessions and Italian ice from our very own Hay Family's Freedom Ice Truck. Our Lower School students seemed to have a wonderful time hanging out with friends and family in the Upper School gym.

A big thank you to Mr. Woods and our awesome volunteers for a fun evening!

Be on the lookout for our next event!

Physics students are measuring velocity of a rolling marble using cell phone technology and photogate timers to construct their under-standing of the laws of motion.
ROCKET LAUNCH
Following this year's class theme, Mission to Mars, Mrs. Lester's Middle School STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) class spent the afternoon launching air rockets! The goal was to design, build and launch their rocket the farthest. Remember, STEM is one of four Middle school elective classes in the elective wheel this year. If your student has not had the STEM elective yet, they will before the year ends! Also, a big thanks to the Trail Life Troop 555 for use of their compressed air launchers.
Congratulations to Shyla Barlow with her winning design!

TOGETHER WE FLY!
If you visit our gym, you may notice something new and colorful, a set of wings!
Look closer and you will see each feather is hand decorated and unique and on each is written the name of one upper school student. Before the project was installed in the gym, our high school Missions Class students decorated each one and wrote every upper school students' name on a feather. Then the class prayed for each student by name! The heart of the project is to help the students know that they are remembered and cared for and that God has placed each one of us here this year with a plan and a purpose. Together we can do great things, Together we FLY!

Visual Arts Class
Our High School Visual Art class has just completed their first "Expressive Still Lifes". They were given a still life to sketch, complete with watercolor and add their chosen adjective to the piece. Each still life is different and creative in its own style.

The University of US is an after-school program designed to boost student knowledge of the US Constitution to a higher level. Over the course of the school year, students participate in classes led by locally and nationally renowned instructors on topics related to the Constitution. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to enter the US Constitution Scholarship Foundation's essay competition for which five $5,000 scholarships are awarded annually.
