Delaware is the incorporation home to well over a million businesses. However, of the roughly 57,000 licensed businesses operating in the state, about 56,000 of them are considered small businesses. And, while roughly half of the workforce in Delaware is employed by the 1,000 largest businesses and state government, the other half of all working Delawareans are employed by small businesses.
It is for these employers and employees that we shine a light on Delaware's small business community each November. Join us on November 3 for the 23rd Annual Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Awards Luncheon, which honors businesses and nonprofits for their outstanding achievements and model approaches to business and management. Established in 1998, the awards are given annually to extraordinary businesses in honor of Marvin S. Gilman, who was a distinguished small business leader in Delaware.
This year we are pleased to welcome Dave Heller and Clark Minker as our keynote speakers. Many have heard of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, but do you know why Dave and Clark are so committed to making Wilmington one of the most attractive locations for America's pastime? Discover how these two innovators creatively navigated through economic barriers and other hurdles to make the Blue Rocks franchise an industry leader while simultaneously changing the Wilmington community forever.
