Construction Update
U.S. Route 7 and East Allen St.

DATE: Friday, 8/26/22

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

Alternating one-way traffic patterns will be in effect in areas of active construction throughout the week of 8/28/22. Please anticipate delays.

Please use caution and reduce speed when driving through the construction zone. Structures will remain raised until the wearing course of asphalt has been paved.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Paving of side roads will continue into the early part of next week.

Paving is weather-dependent. Inclement weather can alter the planned paving schedule.

Crews will be working on the plug joints located on the Winooski Bridge and areas along the Circulator where concrete abuts asphalt. An asphaltic plug joint is an expansion joint that provides a smooth and watertight surface free of debris and allows the roadway surface to expand and contract independently of the bridge and/or concrete surfaces.

Plug joint work will occur throughout the week of 8/28. One-way alternating traffic will be in effect in these areas. Please expect delays, particularly in the vicinity of the Winooski Bridge.

On the abutting Burlington roadway project, sidewalk ramp work will continue in various locations along the project.

Paving is expected to begin after Labor Day along Riverside Ave., starting near the intersection with Colchester Avenue.

Holiday: In observance of the Labor Day holiday, crews will not be working Friday, 9/2 through Monday, 9/5. Work will resume on Tuesday, 9/6 at 7:00 p.m.

Work on this contract will be performed at night. All nighttime work hours are 7:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday night. It should be noted, however, that work may be performed at times on Friday nights.

Paving of the final, or wearing course of asphalt began earlier this week.
LOCATION:  This project begins on US-7/US-2 (Colchester Ave) at the Winooski/Burlington Town Line and continues northerly along US-7/US-2 (Main Street) to the Winooski/Paving Town Line. The project also begins at the Winooski Circulator on VT-15 (East Allen Street) and extends easterly along VT-15 (East Allen Street) to the Winooski/Colchester Town Line at the Class 1 Town Highway limit.
