June 2019

The season is fully underway and I am very pleased with how it has played out so far. I kicked off the year with a win at IRONMAN 70.3 Lima. In Lima I sprained my ankle so I had to take three weeks off of running. My coach, however, encouraged me to keep my schedule as planned and race IRONMAN 70.3 Monterrey off of no run training. I was able to pull off the win and also have a pretty good run there. It is amazing how trained our bodies become with the endless amounts of base mileage we bank in the winter. The result proved to me that hiccups in training blocks do not mean set backs. In fact, I believe the time off made me stronger both mentally and physically. After the win at Monterrey I did a two week hard training block for Escape from Alcatraz. I finished second there this weekend to ITU star Ashleigh Gentle. I would have loved to win but I am extremely happy with my race execution. I have a full summer planned with training, racing, and community events. 2019 is flying by!

I can't say it often enough - I could not do this without the support of my friends, family, coaches, and sponsors! Thanks to each of you!

Happy training!
