Winter - The Water Element

Shhhh! It's winter. Time to be quiet, soak in the stillness and make a practice of deep listening. Like our granddaughter, Luna, pictured above, sit in stillness and take in a view of the winter wonderland outside your window. Perhaps you'll spot a woodland visitor like the deer on the edge of the woods. Luna could have sat in that window for hours staring out at her nature companion.

Cultivate your energy by finding the perfect balance of stillness and quiet movement !
Acupuncture Point of the Season

Kidney 4 - Great Bell

This is the Junction Point on the kidney meridian which connects to the bladder meridian and helps maintain a sense of calm when life circumstances feel overwhelming. This point helps to strengthen the back and lifts the spirit.
Suggestions for the Winter Season

  • The winter is a season of rest and quiet reflection. By resting, we renew our resources for the busy upcoming spring. By reflecting, we can see the roots of our lives and learn from our inner wisdom.
  • Winter is the quietest season, and one of its gifts is Listening. Listen deeply now to the people in your life and to your own intuitive knowing. If you must speak, say, "I am so glad you told me that." Or, "I need to think about that." Or, "That sounds very special." Or, "I love you." Be as open and spacious as the winter landscape.
  • Make lots of fires and cook delicious soups. Take good care of the people and organizations you love and encourage others to do the same. We are each other's best resources.
Mindfulness is a Source of Happiness

Spend a few minutes each day simply being. Pick a favorite seat in your home and if you have a window to the outside, gaze with soft eyes on the landscape. Note how you feel when you begin and how you feel when you are finished.
