Sail away with Randy and Holly!

by Lidia Gray

Randy and Holly Jayne are living the dream and we're thrilled to share their dream with all of you!

They began their sailing career right here at the PCC Sailing School. They walked into our little classroom and shared with us that they plan to retire on a sailboat, although have never stepped a foot aboard a boat before.

Off they went, first to adventures in a Sunfish (there were many Sunfish adventures) in the Small Boat class, then moved onto the KB course, eventually purchasing their first sailboat, probably somewhere around 22ft long. They bummed around Lake Pymatuning for a couple of years, and quickly progressed to bigger boat and bigger water, this time on the Chesapeake Bay. Jake and I had the wonderful privilege of spending an awesome (and unforgettable) week with them, when they graciously offered us sleeping accommodations on their boat and awesome company during a sail camp in the summer of 2023.

Their Chesapeake days provided more opportunities for training, practice and getting to know their boat and the sailing lifestyle. It wasn't long before Randy's retirement party, which also served as bon-voyage event! They are now living the dream in the Bahamas (where they got to on their own boat from the Chesapeake!), sharing the ups and downs of their adventures on Facebook, Instagram and their YouTube channel.

We can't wait to see you guys back at PCC and hear first hand some of your stories, adventures and the friendships you made along the way. You truly are an inspiration to so many of us! Wishing you nothing but the best, fair winds and following seas... your land friends back in beautiful PA!

Spring Work Party!

Please save the date for Saturday, April 26 at 9AM for our Spring Work Party. This is an all hands on deck event when we open up the facilities for the season, clean our outdoor furniture, put in the small docks, freshen up the club house, and so much more. All that will be followed by Membership Meeting and lunch. Please make every effort to attend - there's many jobs to choose from if heavy lifting is not for you. A contribution of soup or dessert for lunch is always appreciated!

Sailing school preparing for our 7th season!

It's hard to believe, but we're headed into 7th year of teaching sailing! Our all-volunteer, donations-based school offers US Sailing Certifications for Small Boat and Keelboat, as well as various events such as lectures, Kids Day or Babes on the Bay and more, open to members and non-members. If you'd like to find out more about what we offer, or are interested in classes, please visit our Sailing School Page. If you'd like to get involved and find ways you can help, please reach out to our sailing school director, Lidia Gray via email or txt/call 724-967-1910.

It's Party Time!

If you have been around for a while, you know the drill, we like to party. If you're new to the club, you should know that we are a social club with a sailing problem! (if the breeze is good, it's the other way around :)). We are thrilled to welcome back Pam Ambrass as the official Events Queen for this season, we can't wait to see what you have in store for us! We would also like to thank Sue Porter for the past 2 years of fabulous events. We know how much blood, sweat, and tears goes into making sure that we're all having a good time and all runs smooth.

PCC typically hosts 4 major events in addition to monthly Hors d'Oeuvres parties: Summer and Fall Party as well as 2 themed events throughout the summer. Dress up is highly encouraged :)

Monthly Hors d'Oeuvre Parties!

Our monthly Hors d'Oeuvre parties are some of our favorite events! No RSVP's required and no cost - just show up and bring a dish to share. BYOB or donate to the club fridge! During the winter months (Nov. - Apr.), parties start at 5pm on the first Saturday of every month. During May - October, plan on eating around 6pm to allow more time on the water! This is a great opportunity to invite friends or family and show them what we are all about, or meet some of our new members. See you all then!

Next event: Saturday, April 5th, @5PM.

Dues are now Due!

A friendly reminder... if you haven't done so already, please send in your Membership Dues for the season. Thank you to all who have already sent theirs in!

Input to our monthly newsletter is encouraged and greatly appreciated! Please email articles and photos to Lidia at szarak2000@yahoo.com or text photos to 724-967-1910 by the 25th of each month.
