Dear GLCEDC Members and Friends:

The GLCEDC had a productive and eventful winter. Over the last few months, the GLCEDC held a Workers' Compensation Roundtable Discussion, elected new GLCEDC leadership, approved grants to the Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County and Timber and Fieldstone, and added three new members.

Here are the details:
Caterpillar Offers Student Trainee Positions
Caterpillar, Inc. will be offering one year programs for student trainee positions starting in June, 2019.

There are also two positions for a 6 week production internship starting in June, 2019.

Workers' Compensation Roundtable Discussion
The GLCEDC recently hosted a Workers' Compensation Roundtable Discussion including three Illinois State Representatives and 11 local businesses who collectively employ over 1,500 people in Livingston County.

State representatives Tom Bennett, 106th District; Dan Ugaste, 65th District; and Keith Wheeler, 50th District started the event with opening remarks followed by lunch and a roundtable discussion.

GLCEDC Workers' Compensation Forum
GLCEDC Elects New Officers & Board Members
In February, 2019 the GLCEDC elected two new members to the executive committee: Jason Bunting, Livingston County Board and Ty Eshleman, Farnsworth Group and Michael Blackwell, Dimond Bros. to the Board of Directors.

The GLCEDC Executive Committee also elected new officers: Chairman, Brad Solberg, OSF HealthCare St. James - John W. Albrecht Medical Center; Vice Chairman, Bob Smith, Caterpillar; Secretary/Treasurer, Roger Corrigan, State Bank of Graymont.

The GLCEDC thanks Jon Kilgore, PTHS, for his work as Chairman of the GLCEDC, and to everyone who supports the GLCEDC's work to increase commerce and economic opportunity in our area.

Boys & Girls Club Robotics Competition
In 2018, the GLCEDC presented a $7,908 Community Enhancement and Economic Stimulus Grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County High School Robotics Club to purchase materials and construct a student built robot.

The team will attend their first Robotics Competition March 20-23, 2019 at Bradley University in Peoria. The robot seen in the photo to the right is 123 pounds and four feet high.

The team is challenged to not only build the robot, but to raise funds to attend the competition in March. If you would like to learn more about the Robotics Club, or consider donating funds for the team to attend the competition Click Here .

Nicor Gas Check Presentation

Building Improvement Grant
The GLCEDC approved a $3,500 Building Improvement Grant to Timber & Fieldstone, a new home decor and gift store in Chatsworth, to improve the interior and exterior of their store.
