Here's an early Holiday Gift for you, the Winter Newsletter. It promises to be a busy few months with activities for the two vacation weeks and as we begin planning for the 2019 5K Run & Walk for Autism Awareness. Makes it feel as if winter and the challenges it brings will be just a blip as we talk about a major springtime event!
Back to winter and reality. Remember when you were a kid and Christmas eve was the LONGEST day of the year? On December 24th to help with the general anxiety about the impending visit we'll have a Friends & Family showing of The Muppet Christmas Carol. This classic holds pretty close to Dicken's tale and language ( Rizzo and Gonzo aside) but it's familiar characters and comedic asides make the tale suitable for all ages. We hope you will join us that morning to share the excitement and joy. For older individuals we have an opportunity to secure group rate tickets to the Hanover's production of the Christmas Carol. You need to let us know BEFORE December 4th so we can secure seats see page 6 for details. On Page 7 you can read how theater has opened doors to social opportunities for one young man whose family has been longtime supporters of the Center.
Later in the vacation week we've a Pizza & Bowling Party in Gardner, a trip to Avon to Jordan's Furniture for the Enchanted Village, The New Year's Dinner Dance on December 28th and on Saturday we've tickets to the Railers Game, a hit for all ages!
While the Center will be closed on MLK Day we've scheduled some diversion at Urban Air in Bellingham. February brings another round of vacation fun, including a Movie, Snowshoeing, another Bowling & Pizza outing, a visit to Hebert's for Candy Camp and an Ice Cream Social & Game night for teens. And that's just the fun. Please give Cid a day or two to get the activities on the website, being Santa's head elf she's been a little busy preparing for Sunday and her computer has been somewhat recalcitrant this week. Santa is bringing her a new computer and that will be the fix!
Support groups will feature some workshops you won't want to miss and are open to all, the Resource Center & Cando Educational Series resumes with evenings on Pubery & ASD as well as DDS Services for Transition and ABA for Parents & Floortime will also be offered. Information on Clinics, Adaptive Exercise and Inclusion grants is in there too .
To our friends who will be celebrating Hannukah this coming week we send the best wishes for a joyous week of family gatherings, special foods, lights and the celebration of a miracle.
