UPDATES TO OUR COVID POLICY
Due to newly updated COVID-19 guidelines effective Tuesday, January 4, 2022, we will be requiring proof of full vaccination for DINING, IN-PERSON MEETINGS, and CLASSES. We will continue our practice of requiring masks to be worn by everyone throughout the Club, regardless of vaccination status.
This is in alignment with the Governor's executive order released on December 15th. For more information on this recent update, please visit this website here.

We feel that this is the best course of action to protect our members, visitors, and employees. We greatly appreciate your compliance as we strive to provide a safe, welcoming environment. We will continue with our best efforts to present a setting of comfort & opportunity for the restorative power of art in this difficult time.

The exemptions to this guideline include (i) those who are under two years of age, (ii) whose health would be damaged thereby, or (iii) who is developmentally unable to comply, including young children who may not be able to effectively wear a mask or face covering.

Vilmain 2-Day Composition Workshop
Saturday-Sunday, January 29-30
9am-4pm
Compelling Compositions with Judy Vilmain

This workshop is for representational artists working in any media — oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, mixed media, and etc. We will consider both landscape and still-life compositions.

How many times have you been in the middle of a painting and realized that the composition is just not working? But by then it feels too late to try to change it. Or, do you ever look at your paintings and realize they’re just… kind of boring? By the end of this workshop you will have the skills, tools, and mindset you need to design compelling compositions and avoid all that frustration and time-wasting.

During the workshop:
•  we will go over common compositional “tools” such as emphasis, isolation, convergence and asymmetry.
•  you will practice making Value Studies, using different methods such as grisaille, markers, pencil sketching, and painting.
•  we’ll discuss Notans and their usefulness, and practice making them.
•  the emphasis will be on learning fast, simple ways to come up with good compositions.
•  you will learn how to use Composition to help the viewer connect to your work at an emotional level.

You will work from your own photos, and you will revisit some of your past work.

McKeown 1-Day Valentine's Day
Mosaic Workshop
Sunday, February 13
9am-3pm
Whimsical Hanging Mosaic Heart for Valentine's Day with Corinne McKeown

In this fun one-day workshop you will create a delightful, bejeweled mosaic heart for Valentine’s Day. Learn techniques for cutting glass as well as tricks for working with beads using a variety of adhesives, including a very special product that is used for mosaicking three dimensional and sculptural mosaics that are also suitable for the exterior. A variety of beads, baubles, and glass will be provided, and each student will complete a one-of a kind, whimsical 5-inch mosaic heart. Hearts will be prepared to hang on the wall or can stand on a table. These beautiful hearts make unique gifts and are a great reminder to love yourself! You will learn about the convenience of using pre-mixed grout to add a finished, professional appearance to your masterpiece.

**Students will have the opportunity to consult with instruction prior to the class to discuss color palette and ideas for your mosaic heart. Students should come to class with wheeled nippers, and are encouraged to bring any heirlooms of doodads they might like to incorporate into your art to make it a personally meaningful keepsake.
