Happy New Year!

We hope you had a nice holiday break and are ready to get back into training this winter. We know that there will be bad weather headed our way in the coming months so please allow plenty of extra time when commuting to winter training sessions. Winter Training is the perfect opportunity for teammates to work on individual technical skills while continuing to develop as a team.

We look forward to seeing you around the various Michiana locations!

Coach Corner: Anne Wieber

Anne is the coach of our 2011 Girls Green Team and has been a soccer coach for over 6 years. She loves to coach because "it's an amazing feeling to watch your players grow throughout the season, not only in terms of their technical & tactical skills but also in their self confidence." Coach Anne loves that soccer allows players to shine individually but also requires incredible teamwork.

Anne and her husband, Manny, both coach for Jr. Irish and have three kids that all play for Jr. Irish. When she's not inspiring young soccer players, Anne loves to run, read and spend time with her family. Anne's favorite soccer moment was watching Brandi Chastain score the game winning penalty kick to beat China in the 1999 Women's World Cup.
What a moment!

Thanks for your dedication to the club, Anne! We love that Jr. Irish Soccer is such a big part of your family!
Winter Training Focus

This winter we are focusing on getting back into the game (after the holiday break.) Our winter training will include a number of small-sided games within each team. Being in a smaller space indoors allows players the opportunity to further develop both individual and small group decision making skills. Having various playing surfaces and locations further provide sthe chance to execute those decisions at a quick pace. Winter is the time to truly develop skills that we will put to use in our upcoming spring season.
