Celebrating 25 Years of Community Impact
|
The Mequon-Thiensville Community Foundation (MTCF) celebrated its 25th anniversary by hosting a Donor Reception for donors to meet and mingle with grantee organizations. Held on Thursday, November 14th at Foxtown Station in Mequon, over 140 guests, including 16 grantee organizations, joined together to celebrate the impact of the grants awarded by MTCF. MTCF President Lori Lorenz toasted the crowd, expressing her appreciation and noting “Over the past 25 years, MTCF has awarded in excess of $1.2 million in grants to 36 organizations with over 1,100 passionate donors - thank you, and we look forward to continuing our partnerships to enhance our communities of Mequon and Thiensville!"
Grantees at the event included the City of Mequon Police Department, Village of Thiensville Police Department, City of Mequon K9 Unit, Southern Ozaukee Fire and EMS Department, Village of Thiensville, Village Park Reimagined, Jonathan Clark House, Mequon-Thiensville Historical Society, Frank L. Weyenberg Library, Mequon-Thiensville Little League/Mequon Heat, Mequon Nature Preserve, Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, Thiensville Mequon Pickleball Association, MT Trails Foundation, and the Ozaukee Youth Hockey Association. Also present was the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce, City of Mequon Festivals Committee, Downtown Thiensville, and the Rotary Foundation’s Rotary Park All User Park. The City of Mequon Parks Department was unable to attend.
"By giving donors a chance to interact with these agencies, donors received a first-hand account of the significant impact their money has made and an opportunity to learn about upcoming projects,” says Deb Turk, MTCF Executive Director. “A big thank you to our Believer sponsor, Richmond Investment Services and Friend sponsors, Crux Commercial Lending Partners and Ron & Lisa Gibb, who made the event possible."
MTCF is run by an all-volunteer board of directors, advisory board, and giving advisory team whose mission is to enhance the quality of life in Mequon and Thiensville. To see pictures from the event click on the link below.

Thiensville Police Department
MTCF awarded $2,000 to the Thiensville Police Department for bike racks, police lighting, and storage bags for the two electric bikes MTCF purchased for the department in 2023 in conjunction with the Optimist Club.
The bike racks will allow for easier transport of the equipment to training sessions while the police lighting and storage bags will increase the efficiency of the e-bike units during special events and patrol duties.

Ozaukee Ice Center (OIC)
MTCF awarded $3,500 to the Ozaukee Ice Center (OIC) as a dasher board sponsorship for both rinks. The OIC provides a robust youth hockey program, an enrichment program for adults over 60 years of age, and a female-focused athletic program within our community.
This investment continues MTCF’s ongoing support of this vital organization and its important programming.

Another Milestone for MTCF
|
2024 marks the closing out of our current five-year Strategic Plan. As we celebrate this milestone, MTCF has begun to look to the future so we are positioned to continue our legacy of helping support community needs and wants. In February 2025, we will embark on a strategic planning retreat that will bring together our Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Giving Advisory Board, and valued volunteers. In addition, we have invited leaders from Mequon and Thiensville to join us to identify opportunities, prioritize resources, and help shape the next five years.
The retreat will bring together 40 individuals to review MTCF’s organizational strengths and opportunities and develop actionable goals in a focused, distraction-free environment. Lynn Streeter, MTCF VP of Strategy and Retired Healthcare Strategic Planning Executive Director will facilitate the retreat and draft our next five-year strategic plan. “We are very fortunate to have someone on our Board with the talent and experience to lead us on this journey. Lynn’s years of experience in strategic planning in healthcare and in various volunteer roles throughout her career will bring invaluable insight and perspective to the process,” stated Deb Turk, MTCF Executive Director.
It is an exciting time for MTCF. The future is looking so bright!
