As we begin a new year we reflect on the bonds and memories that connect the De La Salle family, we also take a moment to honor and remember the alumni who are no longer with us. Their contributions to our community and the lives they touched will never be forgotten.
Let us hold their families and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers as we continue to celebrate the legacies they have left behind.
If you would like to share a memory or tribute, please feel free to reach out to Chlyla Wilson-Lewis at Wilson-lewisc@dls.org. Together, we keep their spirit alive in our hearts and in the halls of De La Salle.
May they rest in peace.

Jerry Tokars' Night
On Friday, December 6, 2024, De La Salle Institute proudly honored the remarkable legacy of Coach Jerry Tokars by naming the wood basketball court in his honor.
Coach Tokars’ incredible career includes an outstanding 425-157 record as head coach of the Meteors. His leadership took the team to Champaign three times, with a third-place finish in 1977 and additional appearances in 1979 and 1980. He guided De La Salle to eight regional titles and seven league championships, earning recognition as the Catholic League’s Coach of the Year.
As a De La Salle alumnus, Coach Tokars was a four-year starter and twice an All-Catholic League selection as a player. His contributions to basketball and our community were rightfully recognized with his induction into the Illinois Sports Hall of Fame.
The ceremony was a heartfelt celebration of Coach Tokars' enduring impact on De La Salle and a testament to his legacy in our school’s history.
