Winter 2025

New Travelift at Reed Point

We are pleased to announce a new Marine Travelift at Reed Point Marina. It has capacity of 50 tons, matching our current lift. However, it introduces several key features that greatly enhance our operations:

  • A variable-width design, allowing us to place smaller boats closer together and effectively increase our yard’s capacity.
  • Four-wheel steering for superior maneuverability, enabling more efficient use of space.
  • A taller frame and an extended forward beam, which allow us to accommodate larger or taller vessels and make it easier to service sailboats without the need to remove their rigging.

Together with our existing 50-ton fixed-width Travelift (which has two-wheel steering), the addition of this new lift will significantly expand our ability to handle more vessels during the busy season. The new lift is now operational, with Inlet Marine’s team having team completed the training and certification provided by Travelift.

To address the increased volume of activity, we have also installed a Ringwood flocculant wastewater treatment system. This semi-automatic system requires minimal maintenance and can process up to 400 gallons per hour, ensuring we meet higher demand while maintaining environmental compliance. The Travelifts and the wastewater treatment system are operated by the team from Inlet Marine.

These improvements were made possible through the support of the ABCMI BC Maritime Industries Infrastructure Modernization and Expansion Grant Program. Their assistance was instrumental in facilitating these upgrades, and we are grateful for their contribution to enhancing our operations.

$3M Liability Insurance

We want to remind all boaters of the minimum $3M liability insurance requirement.

As you may recall there have been recent changes to Canada’s Marine Liabilities Act affecting minimum liability coverage. See this Western Mariner article for details.

All moorage licenses will now require a minimum of $3M liability insurance as a condition of moorage.

2025/26 Moorage Rates & Renewals

Marina costs continue to rise faster than inflation, however, we plan to keep this years moorage increase to the OCT CPI rate of 2.2% in order to keep rates as low as possible. Reed Point Marina moorage rates remain the lowest in the harbour.

All moorage renewals will be sent via email in the next few weeks. Please ensure that we have your updated email address.
