Get Excited and Get Involved!

The SOIL Hub is Coming in 2026!

Building on the success of the Community Garden (Phase 1) and the Grow Dome (Phase 2), we are excited to complete Phase 3: The SOIL Hub. This open-air innovative campus will host year-round inspiration, learning, and connection for the entire community.

New Field Trip Opportunities at SOIL

Middle schoolers look at plants in the Grow Dome

We are excited to announce our newest initiative: Winter Middle School Field Trips! Following in the footsteps of our elementary field trip programs (serving students from across Durango School District), high school Career and Tech Ed projects, and Fort Lewis College service learning collaborations, we are excited to bring more middle school students to SOIL. This March, we will pilot a hands-on STEM unit with 250 7th graders from Escalante and Miller Middle Schools, laying the groundwork to welcome 6th and 8th graders next winter.

Garden In A Box Coming Back in 2026!

The City of Durango is once again partnering with Colorado-based conservation nonprofit Resource Central to offer easy, DIY perennial garden kits to transform your yard! Garden kits are low-water and feature native and pollinator-friendly plants.

Visit ResourceCentral.org/Gardens to order your waterwise Garden In A Box, and claim a $25 discount for Durango residents!

Garden kit pickup will be at SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab on Saturday, May 30th.

Support SOIL at North City Market!

During February and March, SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab will receive a $1 donation for every $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger bag sold at North City Market!

Curious about how SOIL impacts food security? Last season, we launched our SOIL Shares program, through which excess fruits and vegetables went directly to summer meals and school lunches, two programs that are vital for child food security in our community!

Please Support our Business Sponsors and Partners!

Everything that you see at the SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab (The Community Garden with almost 100 garden beds, The Grow Dome where food and community will flourish year round, and The Hub which will again transform the space in 2026) was all funded and made possible by individual donors, business sponsors, local grants, and countless volunteer hours. Please join us in thanking the following businesses and organizations for their support of SOIL:
