Goodbye January, Hello February 2023

Teacher Training Scholarship Applications

Due by Wednesday, Feb. 1

The February 1 deadline is fast approaching. Read the 2023 application guidelines and submit your application. Award notifications will be sent on February 15.

"One of the main goals of IDA Georgia is to promote evidence-based literacy instruction for teachers. We believe that training teachers will have the greatest impact on students who struggle to learn how to read in Georgia. In order to facilitate this goal, a Teacher Scholarship program has been established to provide support to teachers to help offset the personal costs of such training. We fund individual teachers and not schools or school districts with our program. Our scholarship is designed for teachers in public or private schools to provide structured literacy instruction to students at no cost in their own school setting. The scholarship program at this time is not intended to train tutors."

Read the IDA Fact Sheet about Effective Instruction for Students with Dyslexia.

To clarify further why a Structured Literacy approach to instruction is so important when teaching reading and writing to children with dyslexia, we offered a 4-webinar series from October 2022-January 2023. You can now watch the recordings.
