The second annual Bridge Street Half Marathon is set for April 12 and registration is open. Entry fee includes race registration, a technical shirt, unique finishers medals, post-race food and finish line party at Bridge Street Town Centre. The course runs through Bridge Street Town Centre and Huntsville's Research Park and is limited to the first 1,000 registrants. Early registration is $50 from Jan. 1-Feb. 28, $60 from March 1-31 and $75 from April 1-12. For more information go to To register go here.





Heel & Crank Duathlon


Registration for the annual Heel & Crank Duathlon, set for April 11 in historic Mooresville, is open. The Heel & Crank Duathlon consists of a 3-mile run, 13.5-mile bike and 3-mile run and benefits ALS of Alabama in memory of local triathlete, Darin Kruse. This race is a beginner-friendly event as well as a good sprint for the veterans. This race is not USAT sanctioned to reduce costs to beginners and allow recumbent cyclists. To register go here.

1) You will need to register for the Heel and Crank Duathlon as an individual racer. (Sorry relays do not qualify this year)
2) You will need to register for the Bridge Street Half Marathon.
3) You will need to fill out the 35.1 mile challenge application.

Fleet Feet Sports 10K Training Program 

Kick-Off Wednesday, March 11 at 7 P.M.  


 This program is geared toward  moderately active runners, but welcomes anyone who has already accomplished the 5k distance.  There will be both running pace groups and run/walk pace groups so that there will be a running partner at any level of intensity in the program. Next steps is an 10 week training program that builds runners up to reaching their 10K distance goal

Fleet Feet and the Southeast YMCA are offering a special 8 Weeks of 5K training for beginning walkers, walk/runners and runners. There will be two coached training sessions each week and the goal race is the Y Run? 5K on May 9. It kicks off March 5 at 7 p.m. at the Southeast YMCA and training starts March 17 at 6 p.m. at  the Y. There will also be Saturday morning runs at 8 a.m. from Fleet Feet Sports.

Beginner walk/runners 5K distance with the goal race being the PCRA 5K in Priceville on May 30. The 10-week training program takes place Monday and Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. from Veteran's Park in Priceville. The program not only includes a training plan with walk and run options, but professional coaches and a team atmosphere with the camaraderie of others just like you. Throughout the program, weekly group training sessions will keep you motivated and moving.

Fleet Feet Sports is co-sponsoring a new radio program on WTKI-AM 1450/92.9 FM hosted by on Sundays at 5 p.m. Dennis Mix, a Fleet Feet Tri 201 coach and member of our Fleet Feet Tri Racing Team, will be the guest this week for Fleet Feet's 8-to 10-minute segment. Listen for Dennis to mention the Product of the Week, then send us a private message on the Fleet Feet Sports Huntsville Facebook Page telling us which one it is. We will also post the podcast later next week if you miss the live broadcast.
